I need your advice! I am making Tahitian necklaces (on leather) for my 2 sons. I started this project a while ago, but realized I my drill bit isn't large enough to accomodate the leather. If anyone has made such a necklace, could you advise me on the proper drill bit size. Thanks!

I've done a number of these....it depends on the thickness of your leather. I have used 2mm drill bits for most of the leather pieces I did. You want the fit to be tight, but not so tight that you cannot pull the leather through the hole. I usually use a tad of shea butter on the end of the leather, which I've cut to a point. I then stitch a piece of Beader's Secret on a needle and pull through. I then cut off the poked through bit.

Thanks, that's an excellent point, JP. I have a couple different leathers, so I should measure to determine which bit size I need. I kind of feel quilty making a hole that large, but the boys will love this! They seem to be more excited over pearls, than their sister! Thanks!
