Blister Pearls in Shells: Rainbow Lip, Madre Perla, Spiny Oyster & Abalone

These shells were with us for a few weeks and I decided to take some iPhone shots to post.

Ooh so very cool! I have 2 blister in shell pieces: Pteria Sterna (Thank You Douglas!), and abalone. The abalone farmer/seafood shop owner on the fishing pier in Monterey was highly entertained that I was more interested in the blistered shells than the abalone meat Nearly all the shells he had, especially the smaller specimens, had blisters, many blisters.

I believe some of these blister pearl shells actually passed through my hands to a certain buyer.
Brings back some fond memories.
