Hi all,
I have a 5.70 mm black natural pearl on an antique pin. It is round with silver/bronze overtones......does such a small natural black pearl have any value, and where would it originate from?
Cheers, Brenda

Hi Seadancer,

Natural pearls always have value no matter what the size or shape. A 5.7mm round nacreous pearl would be just short of a carat and a non-nacreous would be just over one carat. The value is a function of both the pearls quality (water, mirror, orient, color, shape) as well as weight and rarity which in turn is a function of its origin.

What species your pearl came from can only be determined upon seeing it and knowing where exactly it was found and even then it is often a matter of probabilities.
