Hi All,

I am very quiet these days, I know. I do lurk :) Most days I don't even remember to put on any jewelry at all as we are still under a lot of pressure here. But resently I was reminded that largish white pearls are on my bucket list and right now, gasp!, I have taken the jump and bought these barogue akoya pearls.

They seem the perfect compromise for my wallet, my lust for luster and a very decent size. I am very excited to see them though right now in a semi-state of chock of having spent the money (add 25% to get them to the country though I did use the Valentine's Day discount).

I will try to post the glamour shot tomorrow, though it is generic. For now, here is the link: http://www.pearlparadise.com/p-5684-90-95-mm-white-akoya-baroque-pearl-necklace.aspx

Oh, they're beautiful! Can't wait to see them on your neck!

These are great pearls! I bought one of these necklaces last year. You will enjoy them so much.

KarinK, we've not forgotten you :) I hope you love these baroque white akoya pearls as much as I love mine ... (somewhat sheepishly ...) 2 necklaces that nest together, a bracelet and 2 sets of earrings with a few left over. Mine are soap bubble lustrous and stunning ... enjoy yours!

Oooohhh I've actually looked at that listing before! KarinK & Pearl Dreams, would you please share IRL & neckshots???

Oh, that's right! I remember them now. Also remember the blue... Sigh, my Vietnamese can't match that color. But it looks like the white ones will be exactly what I was looking for. Even remember regretting not buying them back them. Guess it all comes around...

Do post photos of your Valentine's Day gift strand when you have time, I'm sure you'll look fabulous in them. :D

I picked up one of those strands last year -- they are lovely. I hope you will enjoy yours, Karin.

Oh I'm jealous! From all the photos I've seen, those are gorgeous pearls! Would love to see neck shots!!!

Baroque akoya pearls are truly the perfect choice and it is one of my favorite pearl.

I have the pearls now - and in keeping very apparent tradition I am sick too :( So no pictures right now, just a few observations.

They are a lot like my Vietnamese blue akoya in that they are almost round but the nacre shifts a bit in thickness (think soft ice). It makes the pearls look almost facetted and I really like that.

The size is really substancial. Thumbs up for that as well! And 16 inch is really perfect for me but then I already knew that.

The only two things less high on my Like-list is they show less luster than the Vietnamese ones. Keeping in mind the size and the prize, I guess it would have been too much to ask for. A few pearls seems to have sharper luster. I may restring to put those at the front. Not sure yet.

And then I feel they have pinked very liberally. These pearls are definitely pink, seems a little over-processed. But it may just be in my lack of exprience. My only other strand was golden (plus a super cheap, low-luster one that no one had bothered to dye I think).

Oh dear, get better soon! Photos can wait.

Your impressions may also be a little different when you are feeling better, and when you've had a day or two to look at them.

I am sure my general lack of enthusiasm is due to feeling horribly tired and coughing all the time. They do look lovely on :)
