Asahi pearls

Hello,
I have recently acquired some Asahi cultured pearls and would like to find out more about them. They have never been worn and were bought in Japan by my aunt and uncle in the 60's. They are still in the original box with tags and have never been worn. They were given to my mother and have been put away until now.
My main question are they of enough value to insure or are they something that if I lose them it is no big deal? I don't intend to sell them but I am known for losing jewelry and will insure if necessary. I have taken them to a few high end jewelers and I have been told they dont know anything about these pearls.
