The silver-blue color is natural but it is not the color of the nacre.
As I understand it, what happens is this: In the process of implanting the nucleus some damage may happen to the gonad, which exudes a brown fluid that covers the nucleus. Nacre is laid down over that. Because of the way light is refracted through the nacre (which itself is transparent) the brown color appears bluer when the nacre is thick and browner when the nacre is thin.
