My mother received this pearl necklace as a gift in 1954 from her mother-in-law. I am wondering if this necklace contains natural or cultured pearls, and who might have made it. There is no identifying information on the clasp. The clasp pearl is held in place with prongs. The pearls are champagne and cream.

Any help identifying who made the necklace, and approximate value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-david

Hi there @DavidS and welcome to our forum!

I see some mother of pearl beads there, this could mean that this is a cultured pearl necklace. Most likely.
But I also see what seem to be faux pearls (imitations) and some beads that resemble glass...I think this is a mashup necklace made with all sorts of items. I see freshwater pearls there too.

The clasp seems common. I don't think there is a way to tell who made it. There is no pearl in the clasp: seems like a Mother of Pearl button.

Pricewise: Hard to say without proper evaluation (on-hand) but probably less than $100 USD. Maybe even $30 if many pearls are fake.
