    Mikimoto Halloween collection?????

Wow, okay I was thinking "this is probably going to be right up my alley" because elevated goth pieces are my jam, but nah. This is giving "drop-shipped from etsy for $15" or, I dunno, "sitting by the register at the Hallmark store". Who is this collection for? SHEIN aesthetic with a Mikimoto...

    New Freshadamas are 🤯🤯🤯

That's fascinating, thank you for sharing. How could luster fade so quickly? I was under the impression that luster was fairly stable provided the pearls are cared for properly.

@SurfnSci Your necklace is beautiful! May I ask how you go about piecing together your strands? Do you buy individual pearls over time? @BWeaves That pendant is mesmerizing!

I love that this will be live on location. Will the three streams all be covering different topics or will they all be roughly equal in content?

LIVESTREAM - Teeny, Tiny Akoya Keshi Pearls!

I think you chose well, @BWeaves. Your pearls are beautiful! That keshi pearl net was something else, though. Having just seen Dune 2 in theaters, it looked like something out of the Bene Gesserit wardrobe. Imagine rocking up to the Costco dripping in pearls like, "Bless the Maker and his...

Jaw-dropping examples as always, jeg. Those colors! I like your distinction between color-banded and circled. Makes perfect sense to me for two different aesthetics.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Perhaps someone with more experience can chime in, but pearls with rings are called circle (or circlé) pearls, and they are a naturally occurring phenomenon in many pearl types, such as Tahitian, South Sea, and Freshwater pearls. It is not known exactly why/how circle pearls occur, but it is...

    Pearls by the Bay 2024

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, @jeg, @BWeaves, and @CathyKeshi. I have bought my ticket and I'm excited to be there and meet folks. Gonna make a trip of it and take some time to see the sights in San Francisco while I'm there, since I've never been!

    Pearls by the Bay 2024

Hey so, question. Is this event open to anyone? Like, can I, an unaffiliated layperson (and newbie) attend? It looks to me like most past attendees are industry professionals and/or forum friends who have known one another for years. Just wanted to confirm, because the checkout on the event...

Normally I'm a little lurking gremlin who only reads and doesn't post, but I have to say I love these earrings, BWeaves! One reminds me of Maui's hook and the other looks like a leaping fish or dolphin. Super beachy and whimsical.

    Black Butterfly pearls

I looked it up out of curiosity (Japanese minor in college). The black-lipped pearl oyster in Japanese is 黒蝶貝 (kurochougai). The three characters literally mean "black butterfly shellfish". So yes, it's a translation issue. :)
