    Mikimoto Pearl with Broken Bail

Well, the pearl has been fixed. The jeweller that Nerida kindly help me locate designed the new bail to resemble a scallop shell -- I've attached a photo for you to see his handiwork  Thanks for the help everyone. It is much appreciated. - Tija

    Mikimoto Pearl with Broken Bail

Thanks Nerida for getting back. Let's hope we can find someone suitable in Queensland who can do the job -- I've sent you a PM.

    Mikimoto Pearl with Broken Bail

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I'm not even going to attempt repairing the pearl myself -- I have zero experience. So, considering what Jeremy has said about the delicacy of Akoya pearls, I think the laser welder is the best choice (as he also agreed). I guess Attack would be the...

I really...

    Mikimoto Pearl with Broken Bail

Thanks, and yes -- by chance, it decided to break as I bent down, so I heard it when it fell. The pearl is fairly small -- about 8mm -- and the bail is probably about half that. Is this small enough, do you think? I've marked a part of what you said in blue... I'm going to guess this is...

    Mikimoto Pearl with Broken Bail

Hi I'm hoping to get some input in regards to a Mikimoto pearl I have... The gold of the bail has worn out, which means I can no longer wear it. I'm hoping there's some way a jeweller can fix the bail without actually replacing the bail itself, as I don't want the pearl damaged. (I live in...
