Yes, I can see the luster, although it's harder on the white strings, particularly the upper two or three. Still see it on portions, but it starts to get washed out for me. How would you rate the luster across these pearls? Thanks for the example.

This raises a question about how pearls are photographed. It appears to me that many posted pearl string photos, even in some online shops, are generally washed out. Possible reasons are the effect of flash photography or the general lack of detail given camera distance and a non-macro lens...

Some new photos have been posted on front page of www.pearlsamerica.com. Admitedly the earlier photos were washed out and did look a bit chalky. Still getting used to what the Internet does to photos, particularly when shooting in high contrast lighting situations.

That's another topic. Not all appraisals are the same. Sure, they all know diamonds, but are most U.S. appraisers even qualified to evaluate pearls? I'm not even sure that most know gemstones other than diamonds.

The "new, higher quality pearls" I added were just that, higher quality pearls, more round, and clean surfaces with very little in terms of unmagnified flaws--just a distinction between my regular but decent quality and my higher quality. On Ebay, space is very limited for the titles. I expect...
