Civa has explained me that their production had been seriously damaged by hurricane Winston, and was just suffisant for their own shop in Fiji. they say that maybe they would be able to open an auction in Japan, but in 2019.

Very strange! These pearls seem to be worn on middle parts, not around holes. Maybe a long time past rolled by waves on a pebble beach? A bath in strong bleach could make a similar effect, but wire would be damaged also...

Pearlescence, I agree with you, but to turn pale gold in darker seems to me a very difficult process: nacre is already yellow, and to add the right small quantity of red and black to make gold... it's not a simple way! Here is a photo of a yellow SSP, in my opinion: the difference is easy to do...

Anyway, If these pearls are dyed, that would be seen to observe the hole: if deeper nacre is white, in contrast of the first layers, it will be a doubt. A little comment: pure gold metal real colour is very unusual to see, every jewels are made with gold alloies. I have often seen native gold...

Hi PotatoPia! Unfortunatly, your first reply is not from a real Expert, but I think that black tahitian pearls are true, not dyed, and if gold SSP are dyed... it's very well done, even surprising. Now, the floor to the experts:)

Red an Katbran, I should like somebody explains me how are preserved insects and other animals living in soja fields, during harvesting, and what is more preserving wild nature to grow soja to make tofu instead of to feed cows, but later, I don't want to disturb any Chrismas:)
