    Tahitian?

Thank you so much! When I think about it, it makes the most sense. Not sure how I ever got the wrong idea, but thanks again!

    Tahitian?

Thank you, somehow I thought Tahitians did NOT have a nucleus... but this is the only one that has a big enough drill hole to see the nucleus. I am pretty sure by the finer grit that it is Tahitian then. I have noticed that Saltwater Pearls have much finer grit than freshwater..... My...

    Tahitian?

They are on an Artisan 14k square bar, about 10mm and the color/luster gives me Tahitian vibes, but I don't know. Is it Tahitian or not? I am sorry they are so pixelated...my phone..sigh.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

About your stands history...I am going to guess they were bought in the USA, only because of the war recovery in the 50's in Japan. Tiffany's did carry other things during the War years. I don't know anything about Mikimoto in Japan at that time, but Japan was having to recover from the war in...

    Tahitians?

All great ideas!!! Such solid helpful advice. It is going to take figuring out what is really bothering me (could be the weight) and changing it (might take a bit, if it is the weight) before I decide. I do have another option of putting smaller making pearls to make it longer...but that...

    Tahitians?

pattye I am still having a problem. I love the pearls, there are sitting by my work station and I gaze at them....but I don't like them on me. I am getting some tiny rose gold beads to lengthen the strand and remove the problematic one. I also think I will either string it with light grey...

Are these real rare high grade black pearls?

I found the easiest way to "test" pearls is to gently rub 2 pearls from the strand together, if they feel a little like sand paper, they are pearls, if super smooth = something else. The amount of sand paper feel with vary, but never smooth and slick.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Best thread ever!!! It helps me decide what I like and all the different options, including different ways to wear them. Repeats are good as I can see how pearls go with different outfits or mixed with different pearls.

    Tahitians?

The bead cups are to cover the flattened and white end (hard to see). 2 for symmetry. I may get them and decide.

    Tahitians?

I thought I was confident in trying to buy Tahitians...now I am not sure...please give your opinion! Also...opinion of putting bead cups around the center pearl?

    Are these vintage seed pearls?

"Seed pearls" are tiny, the size of seeds, and usually quite round. I would call these "rice pearls" because they are bigger, more rice shaped. Freshwater is my guess. Looks like a current clasp from any number of countries or islands. Could be Sterling Silver, you would have to test. The...

    Mikimoto Bowtie Clasp in Silver

    Are these really Mikimoto?

I think that I prefer knots between each on pearls.

    Are these really Mikimoto?

Thanks Pattye! Would you re-string and knot between each or keep with the original amount/knot placement?

    Are these really Mikimoto?

I found these vintage pearl necklace for very little, when I got them home to restring & knot, I looked at the clasp, I noticed the M with the shell around it. I have a Mikimoto brooch and recognized the mark. But the there are so few knots...is it really a Mikimoto? It is vintage. Why so...

    Linda's Lowly Beading Adventures

Perfect! I was looking at a little drill...but the round diamond file seems like what I need, when I just need them a touch bigger. Hemostats are the best...if only I could figure out where I stashed them. (My ER nurse mother and the other staff would give away the UNUSED metal "disposable"...
