    Are these south sea pearls?

There are photos of two different necklaces. The OP's question is about the knotted strand in the 1st and 3rd posts, not the one in post #21. :)

    Are these south sea pearls?

If you have a creative bent you can actually have a lot of fun stringing your own stuff. Not just pearls. Semi-precious stone beads and other materials are great too. And not just on thread. I like Beadalon beading wire with screw type crimps, and either silicone bumpers instead of knots, or...

    Are these south sea pearls?

I once bought a mediocre pre-owned necklace and even more mediocre SS bracelet and added some loose pearls I had from other vendors to make a nice multicolored one for my husband. This necklace has the dark center pearl that I removed from the necklace in my previous post. Here he is wearing it.

    Are these south sea pearls?

It is tricky, yes. My favorite Tahitian necklace is one I bought second hand. I thought the color pattern would suit me, but it didn't go so well with the clothes I tend to wear. And the center pearl had a weird bump that somehow always rolled around to the front where it kept catching my eye. I...

    Are these south sea pearls?

Yes! I often rearrange pearl necklaces from the way they were originally strung, even replacing pearls that I don't like as much. Sometimes a pearl that is closer to the front is less attractive so I move it back. This is the pearl that struck me immediately, which I would move back a bit so...

Oval interlocking clasps: lower end (silver and vermeil): https://www.bellafindings.com/jewelscart2000/store/jewelscart2000_searchItem.asp edit: oops, you still have to enter the search term: "oval interlock clasp" higher end (gold)...

    Are these south sea pearls?

Nice! For your heavier necklaces, you might have a look into interlocking oval clasps and locking carabiner clasps. They come at lower end and higher end price points and larger and smaller sizes. I'll hunt up a few links for examples.

    Are these south sea pearls?

I wrote a tutorial for how to restring pearls! I do all my necklaces myself; many of us do. Here it is: https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/stringing-tutorial-with-photos-stringing-on-serafil-beaders-secret-power-pro.6604/ My issue with clasps is that my necklaces (even chains) tend to work...

    Are these south sea pearls?

I like your approach. :) A thought occurred to me: if you look at his other listings you may be able to tell if he generally photographs in a location in his home with warm lighting. If so, then they are probably a lighter gold color (which you don't mind, but it's good to know.) I have to...

    Are these south sea pearls?

IMO a dispute based on color would probably not be successful because generally it's understood that colors can vary based on one's monitor and it does not seem like deliberate fraud. Also because the tag says SSP I don't think you could very well dispute the type of pearl. I think the...

    Are these south sea pearls?

With SSP I avoid GSS that are too greenish! But those look more or less neutral, although they may not be as golden as they appear. The lining of the box seems unnaturally warm colored and may have been affected by the lighting where the photo was taken. Adjusting one photo to be less warm...

    Are these south sea pearls?

The writing on their box seems to be Gem Shopping Network. So based on that they probably are SSP of a quality range that one would expect from such a venue.

    Are these south sea pearls?

I edited my previous post to ask if they are returnable in case you don't like them in person. I say that because golden SSP can be more or less flattering on one's skin tone, depending on their color.

    Are these south sea pearls?

They look like SSP to me. There are very minor color differences so I don't think they are dyed. Are they returnable, in case you don't like them in person?

    Are these south sea pearls?

They could be SSP, based on shapes and size range. But the way they are attached to the clasp is a bit lower end , as is the clasp. Can you post photos of the entire necklace? Is the price in the expected range or SSP or for FWP? What else does the seller list? If you tell us the seller I'll...

How much color difference is acceptable?

I just want to add this: We have all bought pearls we were less than thrilled with. Even if they are just what we expected, they may not look as good against our skin as we thought they would. Therefore it's best to buy from reputable vendors who have generous return policies, and to be...

How much color difference is acceptable?

I am messaging you a link to the Cultured Pearls Association's "Pearls As One" course that you may enjoy taking, with a code to take it for free.

How much color difference is acceptable?

It seems to be common seller practice that pearls are photographed under ideal lighting conditions, including studio lighting / light box. This sort of lighting brings out overtone colors that are actually present in the pearls, but which the buyer may see only under ideal diffuse light...

How much color difference is acceptable?

I understand your frustration. Pearls sold as purple or lavender are often a bit more brownish than you might expect based on photos. Also a number of FW pearls sold as purple will fade over time. Some have been dyed, and sometimes the vendor is not aware of that. Also, monitors vary. The...

Dreaming of Home Gardening Oysters or Mussels; help, please?

Seriously, how can anyone believe that video? Did you see the garish blue, green and bright pink dyed pearls? FWP do not come in those colors naturally.
