Pearl Dreams, the floating (fishing line) pearls are genuine. They are gritty and I can tell by the other attributes. Thanks!

My latest thrift buys. Are they akoyas and fresh water? I love the pink and gray strands and the chunky silver clasp. Thanks!

    Pearl Ring

My latest find: Pearl ring. I think it's cultured fresh water, but wanted to share. It's 14K with 4 little diamonds. I'm working through Jeremy's online classes. Hopefully I'll be better educated when I've finished. Thanks!

    Thrift Store Finds!

Awesome! I cleaned the earrings and all the pearls are gritty. :) Yay! Thank you, SA and PD! Some of these little gems are staying in my own jewelry box! I think the tourmaline colors will work nice for Christmas.

    Thrift Store Finds!

Hello Pearl Peeps, Yesterday I found a super cute sterling silver, pearl and glass bead bracelet, which I LOVE, at a thrift shop and a couple other little surprises. But, I don't know how to identify pearls yet. I think the earrings are Silpada BC there's a Silpada hallmark on the front of the...

I'm attaching some additional images of the clasp and crisper images of the strand. I cannot believe how terrible my initial images looked once they were loaded onto the site! If anyone has any clue about the maker mark on the clasp, I would very much appreciate your thoughts. Thank you ever so...

    Looky What I found! :)

Thank you, Pearl Dreams! I wondered why the discs were odd shaped, which I've seen many times before. When shopping is no longer fun, I shall stop!

    Looky What I found! :)

In my thrify shopping excursion yesterday, I found a cute pair of earrings and some other pearls. I threw the post earrings in the trash BC the posts are not precious, but then then fished them out thinking maybe someone would want the pearls. Unfortunately I couldn't find the other gray pearl...

Pearl Dreams, thank you for pointing that out. Thank you very much, MSC, for that initial feedback as well. I'm just astounded at the knowledge here and this forum's willingness to share. The news of Barbara Bush's passing makes me want to don my pearls, but I'm wearing a hoodie today.

Thank you all for your kind words! My pearls arrived back home today. The final word from GIA as promised: The pearls are natural, near-round, saltwater from the species Pinctada. The color is cream and they range in size from 2mm - 5.57 mm. The diamond is transparent, near colorless, brilliant...

Jeremy was correct! My pearls are indeed natural. I don't have the full pdf report yet, as it was just updated on the website today. We'll see what news tomorrow brings. :) Thank you all for your feedback and input. I appreciate it immensely.

Sterling chains with a few pearls

I picked up a couple 925 necklaces (at thrift stores) with pearls. Are the purple-y ones dyed? I'm guessing pearls that are on chains aren't so special since the metal would ruin them over time. Thanks in advance!

Even though today is the "return" date reflected in my GIA account, my pearls are not ready. I called today to get a status report, but there is nothing to report... except they are not finished with them yet. Boo. So I wait. But, in the meantime, I picked up a few more pearls on a sterling...

Requesting Thoughts: Two Pins With Varying Luster, Do You Recognize Hallmark?

Thank you, Pattye! Oh my stars! I would not have guessed that! Even the man who tested some of my gold pieces called it a lapel pin!

Requesting Thoughts: Two Pins With Varying Luster, Do You Recognize Hallmark?

Hello Group, I'm attaching images of 2 pins. The heart has a hallmark that I do not recognize. Also, the pearls have no holes and appear so perfectly shaped, I'm guessing they must be cultured. The pearls measure approx. 3mm. The little lapel pin is gold, but has no markings, however, I notice...
