My first floating Tahitian pendant, and "how" I made it.

Hey Douglas! I've been busy with some online courses, and there are tons and tons to come. Hope you are doing fine. Wonderful! I LOVE reading your pearl farming materials! Thanks for the heads up :D, diving to it now!

Today I restrung my Tahitian bracelet, again.

A while back I decided to collect and accumulate some Tahitian pearls to make myself a bracelet. It didn't take long for me to get this far :): There were peacock, forest green, purple, blue, pink, bronze, etc., and a cute banded one. I was very happy:arms: until I figured it was too tight...

My first floating Tahitian pendant, and "how" I made it.

Hi amti, thanks for your kind words. Yes, the pearl came in fully drilled but the hole was not straight, and I only enlarged the hole manually with a reamer (and a bur). It shouldn't have taken that long, if the pearl had been drilled properly in the first place. Also as Douglas pointed out -...

    My second Edison pearl

jeg, your pearls are stunning:D! I also like how you arranged the pearls on the necklace, very feminine. Thanks for your opinion, too!

    My second Edison pearl

Thanks, Douglas and Lady_Disdain. Now I see what I missed here: I was just thinking of regular length chain, so only one side faces forward. Long chain and double sided bail definitely solves that. :D

    My second Edison pearl

I love your 2-in-1 pendant idea, KarinK! Need to give it some thought. I thought of making a "turnable" ring, haven't decided yet.

    My second Edison pearl

3 votes for pendant! Thank you all! :D When I started to get unsure what to make, I was concerned that a pendant could only show one side of the pearl, as only one side faces out, while a ring can show the whole pearl. TBH I am surprised you all think the other way around... Did I miss...

My first floating Tahitian pendant, and "how" I made it.

Thank you very much, @Camelotshadow, @Shanalotte, @AngelinaS, and @lisa c! It was fun sharing the pics and story, and another level of fun to know that you enjoyed my work as well! :D Welcome, @Shanalotte! You can do it if you start trying - you might do even better than this giving it some...

    My second Edison pearl

Happy Sunday (or Monday for friends in Asia and Europe) everyone! It was funny when I typed "My " in the title, the system automatically popped up four "My first xxxxxx" titles I used before. But this time it's my second Edison pearl. :p This is a 13.5mm plumpy drop that I bought to make...

Mystery pearl pendant that belonged to my mother

Beautiful pearl and pendant. I am no expert but to me it looks like a WSS baroque with cream overtone.

Silly question: can creamy WSS be bleached to white WSS?

CortezPearls Does any insurance company provide insurance for this kind of damage? Like when we buy a house, there are insurance plans for flood, theft, etc.. Natural disasters seem more and more severe and frequently. The effect of climate change is more and more obvious. :(

    My first WSS rope

Charlotta, gorgeous akoya, exquisite craftsmanship, beautiful tassel. $10 for a strand is just unbelievable! The seller has my respect for honoring such a low bid price. Hope s/he's learned a lesson.

    My first WSS rope

Charlotta Haha, you win . $22 is a steal, for a 16 inch strand? I wonder if it could cover the shell and grafting fees, probably not. Beautiful bracelet, as always!

    My first WSS rope

Thanks, Charlotta, multichrome, and pattye. Cream color is thought to be of lowest value in WSS, but it can be pretty, too. :)

How to start a Pearl Farm

Thanks a lot, Caitlin. I am just in need of such a book. Such great material, feel like back to school. Can anyone tell me what species is this olive color in the middle representing in Figure 4 on page 13? The denotation is very blurry. I get the yellow and the green, but not this olive...
