    Poison Pearl history

The only thing I will add to this discussion is that the gorgeous clasp on Hisano's double necklace appears to be from the Edwardian period-1901-1915. Obviously, the pearls could be older than that. And that is one stunning piece; pearls and clasp.

Which of these 3 is highest quality?

These all appear to be Japanese saltwater akoya pearls. #2 appears to have the sharpest luster. #1 possibly appears to have more pink overtones, at least in one photo. I love demantoid garnets! I think that Afghan would look great with a fantastic Tahitian- it has so much color that it would really complement the colors of a Tahitian. ( I know you didn't ask me, but that's all I could think of when I saw that beautiful emerald!)

So, Here is my opinion after really looking at your photos: ( your white gold and diamond bail is stunning with that pearl! I agree with BWeaves that the pearl picks the gold color-- as well as the stone color) I like the demantoid with either color gold, I do not like the Afghan emerald at all...

I guess I'm a little confused-- I thought that Keshi were non- nucleated; accidental pearls as a byproduct of the culturing process. For that pearl to be tissue nucleated, it means it was deliberately cultured?

    EBay pearls

I agree about the ruby. Even though monitors differ, the color did not look right and it was normal for synthetic sapphires and synthetic rubies to be placed on antique jewelry.
