Am I asking too much for my Budget?

My anniversary 1893 Mikimoto round clasp with a diamond push button, DOES have the "M" charm. Here is what it says on the Mikimoto website: You can always identify Mikimoto jewelry by our trademark, which is either the outline of an oyster or the Mikimoto name engraved on every piece. This...

    My "Pearling" Story...

The beads are 3.5mm and less. They came threaded in the shown hombre order, but there were 2 strands that were much shorter and 1 strand really long, so I had to unstring and shift some beads around to get all 5 strands closer to the same length. As you stated, YES they are all different widths...

    Purple fade

I purchased the pearls for the necklace 3 years ago and they are still the same color...but I also have a stand-alone purple pearl (in the net pendant) and the earrings. Both the pendant pearl and the earrings have faded a bit. So I don't know the answer to the fading dilemma.

    My "Pearling" Story...

Still a work in progress, I'm waiting for my 14KYG bead covers, but here is the Sapphire Hombre strands I mounted to the pearl clasp. I had to re-adjust EVERY strand several times to get them approximately the same length. It was worth the effort though. This necklace will be so nice with solid...

    My "Pearling" Story...

Sometimes you just get lucky...I did when I found this multi-color Tahitian 11.1-13.4mm Strand of pearls with a 18KWG Diamond circle clasp on EBay at a pawn shop. My bid was finally high enough but only a fraction of what these beauties are worth. Near round, markings on the pearls, definitely...

Mikimoto Pearl Necklace from late 1950's/early 1960

I've never looked at Rubylane.com. I took a look today after your recommendation and they are pricy! I guess that is a good place to list things that may be worth more. There was a Mikimoto necklace EXACTLY the same as one I saw on EBay and the EBay necklace was $9,800 and the Rubylane necklace...

Mikimoto Pearl Necklace from late 1950's/early 1960

You could waste countless dollars on appraisals and restringing at Mikimoto. In 2022 I called Mikimoto and got a quote to have my 1893 Anniversary (1983 purchase) strand evaluated and they quoted me $250 just for an evaluation; this was to make sure that the pearls and clasp were authentic. This...

Am I asking too much for my Budget?

OK, so I guess the pearls were either damaged or repurposed without this original clasp. Makes sense now, people trying to perhaps recover some money for a damaged strand that is not sellable. Thanks for this information.

Am I asking too much for my Budget?

What about these? They have authentication. They appear to be 6mm or so, not 7-8mm. Just worth a look...

    Need a second opinion?

Yes! The classic, no-knot format, nacre piling on the ends of some of the pearls, graduated sizing, and classic clasp. They look like they could use a little pearl wash and restringing based on the dirty color of the knots. Agreed, nice luster and nice strand.

    My "Pearling" Story...

Greetings everyone! I just posted this on another thread, but wanted it included in my pearling thread as well. I just love the subtle pink of in this winter top, and that the gray flowers match my solid color Tahitian strand. Like many of you, I buy clothing to match my pearls!!! Happy pearling...

Luster on photo under the daylight

The "pearl setting" post OR dangle earring findings will come with a pearl cup and a textured post. If your pearls are not already 1/2 drilled, you will need to have them drilled (or drill yourself), being sure to drill them where any imperfections are showing so that the setting will cover...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

And it IS the YEAR OF THE DRAGON starting February 11th! I learned from a Korean friend that many Asian families wait to have a child in a "Year of the Dragon" because children born in a "Dragon" year are supposed to be calm, smart, wise and successful with wealth. Interesting. Love the clasp...

What do these pearls run? I've never purchased from Cees... Does he sell white South Sea?

Luster on photo under the daylight

South Sea pearls with the quality consistent for earrings are VERY expensive-even from aus-pearl. That's because you are getting REAL South Sea (SS) pearls! Another way to secure some might be to watch for "Estate" pearls in the South Sea category. I have found some vintage South Sea's at...

Luster on photo under the daylight

In my early buying days I purchased what were advertised as "Tahitian" and "South Sea"...like warned above the price was too good to be true, and what I received was clearly dyed freshwaters. They know there's no way you'll send them back to China. Be sure to use reputable sellers on...
