Opinion: 24G v 26G for Wire Wrapped Pearl Necklace

This photo also seemed helpful (sorry i'm not in a spot to download it) http://www.krikawa.com/ring-advice/alternative-metals/stainless-steel Maybe stainless would be an interesting option -- you'd get lots of contrast with that deep grey, and I think it's pretty strong. But I'm also a little...

    Tutorial Sources for Lowly Beaders

Diatomaceous (sp?) earth!! kills any insect with an exoskeleton without toxic chemicals. buy the "food grade" kind (never pool grade!!). takes a few days, but a light dusting works wonders around doorframes/windowframes/baseboards. good luck!

    Tutorial Sources for Lowly Beaders

I've been experimenting with some bead weaving to change things up...these tutorials were pretty helpful. I often prefer diagrams to videos for learning new techniques. http://www.fusionbeads.com/techniques If you have any interest in chainmaille, this site is an incredible resource for...

Sorting/blending pearls for long convertible rope (mini version of Purrhana's)

thanks all for checking back in on my project :) i will continue to update as i finish off the tassels. maybe i will manage to make a set of instructions for how I did the smaller tassels without having them unravel. i think the one that was beyond repair was made worse by the fact that it isn't...

    Real or fake?

thanks, all! seems like my gut was right. pearls are so tricky, though -- I don't know how you all can tell so much from photos! the natural vs cultured threads are incredible to follow for this reason.

Sorting/blending pearls for long convertible rope (mini version of Purrhana's)

Cathy, so glad you enjoyed the photos! I love trains too, but feel a little abashed given that so many of the posters here are such jet-setters! This ride is one of my favorites -- I have made the trip from Philly to Pittsburgh and back numerous times, starting in college. I usually ride in the...

    Real or fake?

Saw these as part of a listing that specified the pearls were not tested to determine whether they were real or fake. Any thoughts? I haven't looked at enough pictures to make a good guess. My initial impression was that they might be too round and the knots looked too big (though the size is...

Sorting/blending pearls for long convertible rope (mini version of Purrhana's)

Here is the longer mashup rope doubled with the large grey tassel (it isn't purple, despite the photo above). And here paired with another favorite necklace, made by a former coworker using PMC. Here is the shorter mashup rope with tassel. And for those of you who lasted this long through my...

Sorting/blending pearls for long convertible rope (mini version of Purrhana's)

Finally done with travel for work and taking a moment to update. Purranha, thanks for the instructions!! These are super helpful! One caveat -- this only works with the largest type of tassels, or a tassel that has separate tie keeping the strands together. The smaller tassels don't have this...
