It is very pretty, but doesn't look remotely like office wear to me - too casual, the layering, and the leggings and colour wouldn't do for any serious professional stuff, surely? That said, it's a lovely casual weekend look, and the pearls look wonderful.

I'm thinking of something a bit smaller, probably attached to a very small claw-type grip. Perhaps one on each side. Loose at hte back, just pinned up at side or top. A bit like this, perhaps: I need to be jolly careful it doesn't look wedding-y, though, as the image would be of a shotgun...

Cloaks were part of the school uniform at my boarding school - instead of coats, long navy cloaks (with hoods, but then lots of coats have hoods too, surely?) The hood was lined with the wearer's house colour, which matched the ties we wore. My school ties and cloak lining were therefore...

Up to you - for a bit less money (not much less) you could get a brand new hanadama akoya necklace the same size pearls and same length. Hanadama means the pearls are certified in Japan as being among the top few % of akoya pearls...

They are really lovely, the blue-grey akoyas. I've never been that interested in akoyas, but the blue-greys are definitely changing my mind. I imagine they probably suit almost everyone, too, unlike (say) gold South Sea pearls, which look fab on some people but not right on others.

Can't help but think that this thread is now mis-titled; nothing "basic" about those lovely freshadamas!

Cashmere and pearls are both wonderful things. My mother gives me a cashmere jumper for Christmas every year, and they last for ages if looked after.
