Glass can get really smoothed by the action of the sea, over time. Personally, I think it can be absolutely beautiful. The scratches on this one make me think "glass", too.

I wasn't a part of the challenge, but I do have a 100 inch rope which I adore wearing, it makes me feel like a 1920s flapper, without the unflattering haircut. Here is mine, wrapped several times around my 6 year old son, Isaac, and me, and on its own:

At my parents' home is a photo of my mother, aged about 6, with her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 4 generations in the ascending maternal line. My Granny (my mother's mother) is the tallest by half a head in the photo. She looks positively giant like! Which makes it very odd...
