    Blue Akoyas

Another question Pearl Dreams, I’ve heard that there are only a few Vietnamese Akoya farms; are they all owned by Japanese, and again are all the technicians Japanese?

    Blue Akoyas

Aside from Japan and Vietnam, where in actuality are the blue Akoyas being farmed? Here in Bkk, i’m seeing round strands, and they all say the blue Akoyas are all from Japan. But does that mean that they are auctioned in Japan, or are the blues actually farmed in Japanese water? Thank you all...

    Painted MOP

BWeaves, It’s night time here in Bkk. I wil try to get better photos in daylight. They are so small and delicate, much like Mughal miniatures. Would really love to know more about them. I never saw my mother wearing them.

    Painted MOP

Hello all Here’s another piece in my mother’s box. I know that they were bought from either Persia or India in late 50s or 60s. Obviously it is a bracelet, but has anyone seen something similar? Any Middle Eastern expert out there who can provide more info? Thanks for any input, Jaye

    Are these South Sea

Thank you Parelje, B WEAVES and Pearl Dreams. I certainly cherish them very much. Whatever pieces that my mother had made into jewelry, i am leaving as they are, even though they are not my style. Loose pearls and stones I feel free to play with. I have been told that Ausralian wss are more...

Yeah, Jeg- Mitukoshi ... Ahhh Itoya for stationary and pen... Ahhh Iwas actually looking for a slightly baroque ring, but they explained that they show only rounds and off rounds, some ovals. Their customer prefer that. Jeg, it sounds like we like similar things. If you ever come to Bkk, please...

    Jewelmer Price Points

Jeremy, I was looking for a ring for my Gold Harvest strand ( you know, that rampage you started?:) Sales lady said Japanese luxury tax cannot be redeem, unlike tax-free for tourists. Are you saying the quality of Jewelmer pearls here at their counter, are probably higher grade than say on Blue...

    Jewelmer Price Points

CrazyMissy You are absolutely correct. Today I spent over an hour at Jewelmer counter at Mitsoukoshi in Nihonbashi. Prices are more expensive than US. And I was surprised that there was not that big a selection. The sale lady was super sweet, and pulled out their entire stock for me to see. The...

    Restringing multi strand Keishi /Tahitian

Oh you are so kind to offer Battah. I just called a jewelry shop in Bethesda, and he told me 5$/inch. That comes to about roughly630$! It will take 3 weeks and they send it to CA to be done. I'm leaving for Bkk in November, and I think I will have it done there. It's heavy, though. Btw, i think...
