    Recent Ebay buys

When dealing with a seller I already know and like, I really try to get the free EMS most Chinese pearl vendors offer for >$100 purchases on eBay. Different sellers have different stipulations for earning it. If one is going to sell the end product, the shipping has to go into the price per...

    Great LEATHER AND PEARLS DESIGNS!

Wow! I just saw the ones you added to the Kojima site. The pearls are much nicer than the ones on the Golden Bear bracelets I linked to (no surprise there!) but I don't find their gnarliness makes me dislike the bracelet. Might just mean I need more than one. :) The leather band is, as...

    Pearls on Etsy

The coin pearl seller has modified the listing. Worth a click. I don't think the person who made the "Tahitian treat" deserved to be singled out though. Anyone who buys a decorated comb deserves what they get. :p

    Great LEATHER AND PEARLS DESIGNS!

Love the loop closure bracelet on the right and sadly didn't find one, but I couldn't pass up a Quiroz Tahitian bracelet like the one above and a cuff with no pearls. Might become gifts, but I can't wait to try them on. :)

Erm... (Runs and Hides) I did try to restrain myself

Ahh, ok. :D Totally didn't mean it in a negative way, it just seemed like you were building up a necklace wardrobe. Perhaps I was projecting... I'm coming up on my first pearl purchase anniversary and my rationale for learning to string was to be self sufficient in terms of pearl care. :) And...

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

Oooooh. Amazing! That strand is like the Kojima site itself--an example of the amazing pearls you have access to and the unexpected, creative way you present them. Great rainbow gradient arrangement.

Erm... (Runs and Hides) I did try to restrain myself

Stringing is really easy-- why not learn to do it yourself? At the rate you're buying, you'll want to know how to maintain your strands long term. :D

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

Hmm... I think I just received some pearls that would work nicely for such a project. Will follow up if it comes to fruition. :) Boo, those are serious pearls. And I'm very happy to see that garnet strand. I have a ~36 inch white rice and micro-garnet strand all photographed and ready to go...

The Las Vegas Edition 100 Inch Strand from Miki

I've read the phrases "died in the case" and "dead in the vault" in a few conversations about akoya longevity in storage-- think maybe they used less precious pearls because the necklace was primarily intended to be a display piece, even though it is technically for sale?

    Expert opinions needed. Tahitians?

Oh yiiikes. Was she Greek at university/college, by any chance? Even if she wasn't, all sororities (I mention them because they're thought of as pearl-wearing women) do philanthropic work and that necklace would be a stellar donation for an auction. Perhaps some good karma would help...

    Expert opinions needed. Tahitians?

Oh dear, that's unfortunate. But they are very lovely-- might your friend keep them? Do you know and would you be willing to disclose what your friend paid for them?

    Pearl sizes and PowerPro

There's another reason one absolutely must (IMO) use at least two strands when knotting with PowerPro. Off the spool, PowerPro is a compact, dense rod of fibers. When I place knots close to the pearl, it stays stiff and compact, resulting in a less flexible, small knot-- even if I'm using...

    PP new site design

Like so? And another. Also cupcakes. The Jennifer Lopez cake thing is strange-- non-edibles adorn cakes all the time. They just have to be removed before the cake gets nommed.

    TPO Mother's Day sale!!

Lol. Mikeyy never said he thought PGers shouldn't be Beatle-screamy fangirls of a vendor from time to time. I think he's just not understanding why "intelligent, extremely successful businesspeople doing their jobs well" or "discerning pros have a great product" is news multiple times a week...

    Tears of Mermaids Imminent

Sony has a reader-- I've seen conics and text on it and it's nice. Apple's rumored e-reader or tablet PC would almost certainly be international upon launch. If Kindle doesn't beat Apple to those markets, it could be a tough fight. You're right, Wendy-- book piracy is quite extensive. From...

    Just one of those nights.

Oh no! :( I'm so sorry. If you have a smaller project that's also in progress, you might opt to finish that one and let the frustrating re-do sit for a day or two. I completely understand-- while photographing a ~36 inch strand of small freshwaters alternating with 2mm garnets today, I...

    Are Indian "natural" pearls natural?

Yikes, many more schools than I realized. Jewish philanthropies lost a bundle, at least two have already had to close. I wonder if the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity will recover. The list seems a little misleading... individuals who have that kind of money to invest are often...

    Tears of Mermaids Imminent

Exciting! I heard quite a bit about Bloom after The Oxford Project came out. Congratulations on having your achievements recognized in the book, Jeremy! Perhaps Bloom's omission of the ZE mess will only slightly mar the comprehensiveness of the book. ;)

    Are Indian "natural" pearls natural?

Madoff had been reproached quite a bit, making the whole mess all the more disturbing. :)
