Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

It looked like there was a Tahitian pendant in white gold in that pattern on the FB feed with what looked like maybe black diamonds (or an oxidized edge to the metal maybe?). I didn't see it on the PP site, but I loved it.

    Seasonal pearl style?

I don't wear my pearls in summer. It's too hot, it's too sticky, and my clothes tend to be much more casual. In fall and winter I'm back to suits at work and live in my pearls all season. Then it's back to simple gold earrings and no necklace for the most part all summer.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Blaire, That's a beautiful strand. And in fairness, I believe that PP called their strands harvest strands when they were made in house (not the Jewelemer ones, but the Tahitian ones that were one of the monthly sales a few years back). We might be strand sisters. Mine is quite similar...

    Southsea Pearl vs Edison Pearls

I think it's tough though when other jewelry retains at least some inherent value. Like gold (price per ounce), diamonds, or gemstones. Yes, they fluctuate up or down like any other commodity and what you get in resale is not what you pay in retail, but they don't go to a value of 0 after x...

    Southsea Pearl vs Edison Pearls

I find that the difference is much more obvious in person than in pictures. There is something about the nacre quality that makes freshwater pearls (even metallic ones) have a different look to them than WSS or Akoya pearls. Freshwater nacre looks almost transparent to me - like soap bubbles...

    The Pearl Source: Trusted vendor?

Camelot, This is true. A good return policy eliminates risk. We're I in the US, I'd probably worry less and buy more. But I'm also international so shipping and customs gets pricey, and I like to mitigate that risk if I can.

    The Pearl Source: Trusted vendor?

I got wary of this vendor when they acknowledged that what I was looking at was a stock photo but couldn't or wouldn't show me a picture of what I would actually receive if I went forward with the purchase. I'm particular about shape, luster, and blemishing, and although the stock strand was...

    Chipped Pearls

Would it be worth $85 to be able to send them back? I'm strongly suspecting they are not real, or at the very least, not what you were told they are. You have proof of the size difference, and they don't look like GSS pearls to many people here's eyes. And in my mind, if one part is not what...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Brit, there's two ways. One is to set the reverse camera mode, so you can see on the screen what you are getting a selfie of. The other way is to have the camera facing forward, go to a mirror so you can see what's on the screen (you look at your phone in the mirror to see its screen), and...

    35" or 54"?

Ok, that might require a neck of steel! My 50 incher gets heavy by end of day. Not that I wouldn't be willing to suffer mind you. That's a beauty!

Where to purchase wholesale Akoya round Pearls at least AA+

Rainbow pearls and Mystic pearls seem to be Vantel consultant's description for their dyed freshwater pearls. (Both terms are used by Vantel pearl party consultants on Facebook). Years from now historians will be talking about how the internet became the primary delivery system for scams and...

Where to purchase wholesale Akoya round Pearls at least AA+

This is what a quick internet search found. "Fire and Ice Akoya" is the name that a Facebook pearl seller (Twelve Pearls) is calling her dyed freshwater pearls (that she repeatedly advertises as Akoya). From Twelve Pearls: "UPDATE~ QUANTITY IS DOWN TO 50! Get your Fire & Ice before they're...

Where to purchase wholesale Akoya round Pearls at least AA+

Sorry that's all this fad is. Garbage pearls stuffed into sick, sad, little oysters for the amusement of people who somehow think they're getting something for nothing.

You All See This PP Blog Post???

I'm pretty sure there's Facebook video of Newberry modeling this strand during her last visit. It was even more stunning IRL than in the pictures. (Edited because I spelled her online name wrong. Sigh)

Here's another, but this time I honestly have no idea. Tahitian or not?

They look like freshwater pearls on modern findings to me (which is what I'd expect them to be for $26). I'd send them back given that's clearly not what you were hoping to buy. I'd leave feedback about it too.

    Black Pearls...Dyed Freshwater?

At least you paid freshwater price, so apart from thinking they were something else, you're not badly out of pocket.

WSS pearl drop pendant- I need your help!!

That one looks a bit satiny like many WSS pearls can be - especially in larger sizes (although still very pretty). So it will probably have more of a soft glow rather than have mirror sharp luster. It looks like a fairly clean pearl. I have to admit that I've looked st that one myself...
