A mixed bag of abalone pearls.

I love what you have done with that pearl, dmj! I couldn't watch the last of Antz collection go without keeping at least a few of them in New Zealand. Have bought a package and hoping I can get at least one ring made - perhaps in time for my 25th wedding anniversary next year.

    My Tahitians

I've been taking a few photos of some of my pearl jewellery recently - and since I enjoy looking at the photos others have posted, I thought I would put up my small collection of tahitian pearls. The pendant was my first tahitian, about 11mm in silver - the setting makes it look rather like...

Your first pearls - when and how?

These are what I regard as the beginning of my pearlitis syndrome... 10-11mm drop SSP's from Atlas South Sea Pearl. I'm afraid my addiction started as a share investor who bought shares in ATP on the ASX a decade or so ago. While researching the market for pearls, I came across this forum...

    "Pearl" or shell?

Thank you all for the thoughts. From the auction photo and description, I thought it must be something like those comet pearls. However, when it arrived and I saw the back, I was less certain - so wondered if it was a form of low quality mabe pearl or just a particularly thick piece of shell...

    "Pearl" or shell?

Thanks! In stressful moments, I have occasionally tried distracting myself by browsing the local auction site, looking for bargains. However, I have come to accept that when things arrive, they are usually worth exactly what is paid for them!

    "Pearl" or shell?

I just bought this from an auction for a few dollars, because it caught my eye. It was advertised second-hand as a "funky pearl" set in silver. I am still trying to make up my mind whether I like it enough to wear, but it is definitely a bit unusual. I presume it has been dyed and comes from...

    Need Help Identifying Maker

The hexagonal weave is hard to find. The closest I could get was the shape and I'm sure it was nowhere near the quality - $150 at pirates booty. From the photo, I wondered if the letters were "SH" or "SM".

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Some daylight photos to do them justice - easy to see why they are called "fireballs". :) I would love one in a ring one day...

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Hi Lulu, those are lovely. They have to be the "G" pair on the photo. I think I got the "B" pair, as I liked their symmetry (and I missed out on "E"). I might try and take another photo later today, to try and capture the colours in natural light and do them justice - your photos are much better!

    PP Metallic fireball earrings

Please show us yours :). Mine arrived today, here in New Zealand and I am delighted with them, although I could only justify buying from the cheapest range (bronze). I have just tried to photograph them for you, but the overtones are hard to capture and I don't think I've done the blue/mauve...
