Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Celonmaril Thank you so much...I tried searching "ring" and knew I wasn't getting the right word. "Circle" perfect...now I know what to search. I was very sure BWeaves were natural...but I still wonder if the color variations can occur during dyeing or what. I may just have to post the ones I...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I love, love this thread...just looking I am learning so much! Some incredible design with all these pearls! 2 Questions: I am seeing physical rings in pearls, is that because of new ways of growing or the type of pearl or the largeness? (They do look fabulous in that necklace!). BWeaves in...

Stick pearls need restring, need advice.

Thanks all!!! At least the knots will prevent the crowding that seems to be forcing them up more. Off to play with your Serafil...thanks again for selling it, Pattye!!!

Do I need knots between each pearls for this? Lots of pearl strands.

I am planning to use vintage "rice krispy" pearls for this instead of seed beads. Do I need knots between each pearl or just where the strand meets the spacer? How can I protect the serafil as it goes thru the divider or should I use beading wire (Then I don't need to knot.). Thoughts...other...

Stick pearls need restring, need advice.

I picked up these pearls because I love the color. I have not worked with these kind of pearls before, but they need to restringing, they at least need knots to keep them from squishing themselves up together and not laying flat. Their shapes get kind of tangled. Is there any other trick can...

Do these faceted Tahitian pearls look “problematic”?

I hope you get a solution. While I love new ideas with things, this faceting seems like it is the opposite of what a pearl wants to be. If you need to keep them, do show what you used them for...love that kind of creativity!

14k clasp indication of quality or what is the worse mismatch of clasp and pearls you have seen and why is it bad?

Great advice! I am stringing it for myself, but I often get tired of things and sell them. If I love them, usually someone else does too.

How do you get the super nice mix of colors? I am finding I like the slight variation, but not sure where I would buy such a strand to string. Where could a just regular person get such a strand in a little shape variation? I don't even know what to google...or is this way past google?

    Removing tarnish from rondelles

lary007 Any update? I usually start with the least destructive first....soap and water if at all possible! My experience is that Tarnex is safe on most harder stones and CZ & Glass. (Never soft stones: pearl, opal, turquoise, etc) If you have to "soak" anything in Tarnex...it is always a...

14k clasp indication of quality or what is the worse mismatch of clasp and pearls you have seen and why is it bad?

How would I tell quality on rice pearls from the Y2K? (Several have 14k clasps) Can I just use them like seed beads and make interesting Victorian style jewelry with them and not worry about stringing "expensive" pearls and cheap pearls together?

14k clasp indication of quality or what is the worse mismatch of clasp and pearls you have seen and why is it bad?

With Vintage Jewelry...it is not simple. During WWII, silver was not rationed so there is either sterling (a little gold) or super cheap non-metal during WWII. Pre-WWII was the depression and not a lot of jewelry (that I can afford). Then there is the whole pearls are hard to get and diamonds...

14k clasp indication of quality or what is the worse mismatch of clasp and pearls you have seen and why is it bad?

Maybe I should have asked this a different way: If I want the quality of the pearl to match the quality of the clasp, how would I tell what is 14k gold clasp quality and what is sterling silver quality? If I see a 14k gold clasp does that indicate great quality? Does Sterling silver mean only...

14k clasp indication of quality or what is the worse mismatch of clasp and pearls you have seen and why is it bad?

I am trying to very quickly understand clasp quality with pearl quality. What does a 14k claps generally mean? If I love a 14k clasp do I need an equally great pearl string? If I have a nice string, how bad is it to use a vintage base metal clasp? What about a sterling clasp with diamonds on...
