    365 Days of Pearls

Wow beautiful Gold SSP strand. & it does compliment your skin tone even if you have pretty light skin. Lovely color & luster &overtones... Really metallic like 14 or 18K gold Make my sad GSSP look probably like yellow akoya

These are very interesting...what are they?

I think you did better with a diamond & emerald clasp unless you really likes the pearls. Don;t know what kind of clasp & they did not even list the size of the pearls. There seems to be some bigger ones but they are strung really randomly with big & then small & then big. They have natural...

    Pearl Collecting

Wow the ametrine seems to have an oily irridescence. Really is almost pearl like. I guess maybe because its a cabachon. I do like the deep symmetrical matched rings on those tahitians. It lends a sculptural almost artlike quality that is very appealing.

    Conch Pearl advice appreciated!

It is lovely but curious as to the id of the pink stones. Sapphires/rubies would be my first guess thought they seem to have more brightness...(technically I guess they say pink sapphires but could also be lighter rubies as they are both corundum). Would really be nice if they were pink...

    KIMA (Tridacna sp) Pearls

Wow, happy ending to an old thread...Love these pearls & it looks so nice set. Sort of reminds me of obsidian that has a pearly halo affect though not on a black background

    Conch Pearl advice appreciated!

Love the pearl & the drawings are amazing! Would have loved to design jewelry as I was also good in art. I ight go for a less angular feel for the prongs. I'd like a more fluid line caressing the pearl but it might be too small to actually do that well as it could take away from the face of the...

Multicolour Ts from Amsterdam Pearls, thank you Cees!

Lovely! I think the teal could add a nice hue to the overtone on blueish pearls (least near the drill hole). I like the purple wash over the middle one.. Do they have indigo string? I just checked & probably would use coal but I can see the storm works well too esp on those tahitians. I would...

Cause of Several Layers of Missing Nacre in Natural Pearls such as this?

So sad but it does seem Bodecia is not active anymore. I remember her posting all those pictures of natural pearls in the candling thread. I was really hoping to see the photos after a salt sludge bath & parrafin wax bath. I was curious how it turned out... Good thing it was not a 46 page long...

    Conch pearls on Rubylane?

Awful!!! I don't know if there are any regulations that govern or even license appraisers. How many of us read the certificate on the wall or call to verify? Macay is from Canada Personally I have come across GIA grads that dont even know real pearls from fake...not defending him but maybe...

Cause of Several Layers of Missing Nacre in Natural Pearls such as this?

I was hoping for the final photo after you received it but your chip & the dirt under the nacre in 2nd pic reminds me of my recent chip. I see the dirt under the nacre like what you said somehow the nacre was interrupted or dirtied inside the oyster. I know my dirt did not get under it after it...

    Etsy The Pearl House

Jac just says half drilled on the earrings. I have not had the heart to soak the "gold SSP" in attack & have not even ordered it yet. I half heartedly tried very hot water but nothing. I wore them today & if you position the chip under the pearl or in the back you can't see it. Since I don't...

Need help identifying pearls with platinum and diamond clasp

Wow....plat. N diam. Luv clasp. Have to check pearls later as on my cell. Not sure if the chip on the pearl is exposing the bead/ thin nacre or there is more nacre. Looks like in the 2nd phot of the big chip that the bead is exposed so cultured & on that pearl not that thick. The pearl 2 to the...

Multicolour Ts from Amsterdam Pearls, thank you Cees!

Really does both compliment the skin & dark hair. Love a tahitian strand someday. Now at least I know there are places I can trust. Those colors go with everything maybe even more so than basic white!

Some random pearls I picked up--what are they?

Thanks, read a thread where it said the endcaps were older...& I have seen them on old strands but I was not basing my judgment upon the endcaps alone. They are even cutting new "old" european cut diamonds now so they all of them may not be old anymore. Other things can point to age like the...

Some random pearls I picked up--what are they?

$20 you can;t complain. There is a G after sterling & from the look of the endcaps it could be 50's 60's. Still many pearls seem to lack luster & are milky & they are not round but look acceptible from afar. You got 3 strands of 30 inches so alot of pearl there & certainly worth the money. You...
