Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thank you, CatMom and Douglas! I love the color of abalone pearls. Abalone takes me back to my childhood when my grandfather would retrieve abalone in the bay near where I grew up. We had several shells laying around the house and unfortunately I didn’t keep any of them. Baroque Akoya strand of...

Multicolour strand - drill fault or natural blemish?

That strand looks so beautiful on you! But certainly understandable about the return. There are so many multi-colored Tahitians out there- you’ll find the right one(s) for you. I don’t baby my pearls at all. I think you’ll find them quite durable, especially when worn on the neck or ears. I’m...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thanks so much, 2thdktr, Cathy, CatMom and BWeaves! A couple more pics of the new ring. Cultured abalone pearl from the first harvest at Atacama Pearls. Two Tahitian and SS ombre strands from Kojima, with earrings I made.

Multicolour strand - drill fault or natural blemish?

As for durability, the smaller two pearls look like natural blemishes and would most likely not be problematic. I would maybe be concerned about the center pearl. Photos can sometimes exaggerate an area, but it looks like there might be some new chipping in addition to the natural blemish...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

BWeaves, I think you would probably wear it more as a ring rather than the earrings. A multi-colored rope doubled, from an Intergem show, and Tahitian studs from Takahashi. And my purchase from Pearls By The Bay… a ring designed around a cultured abalone pearl from Atacama Pearls. The...

Multicolour strand - drill fault or natural blemish?

Those are pretty significant blemishes. Cathy has a good idea if you like the rest of the strand, you can replace those three pearls. Or you can remove them from the strand and create a shorter length. Unfortunately, that one pearl is the big blue center pearl.

Show us your live event purchases!

Really beautiful choices lary007 and BWeaves! I have three purchases from the Japan live events, but only one in my hands right now. A pair of grey Akoya from Takahashi. Just what I wanted. I have smaller studs and bigger studs in the grey/blue Akoya, so this one is right in between at 8-8.5

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thank you, SteveM and CatMom! SteveM, I made a bunch of dangly chain jackets in the fall and the nice thing about jackets is they are not permanent so you can still wear your studs or you can use the dangles with any pair of studs. Your combination is light and cheerful for your stormy day...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thanks BWeaves and Cathy! Cathy, watching those waves coming ashore is a relaxing way to get over your jet lag. Looking forward to catching up with you soon! BWeaves, I’m not too much of a shark person either, but that carving is more of a happy shark so it’s kind of dolphin-like and dolphins...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thanks, Douglas, BWeaves and CatMom! It’s always good to be home, even if the turn around is rather short this time. I got home just in time to take care of one of the big sinks backing up. Before I left, it was the car. 😟 There’s always something. The good news is, I found a good local plumber...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Bonjour! I am so disappointed I missed out on the last two PP live events from Japan! I can’t wait to see what everyone added to their collections. I’ll need to go through the videos later to catch up. We landed in Paris on May Day. Lily of the Valley seems to be the flower of choice for...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I don’t know of anything specific to recommend, but I’m sure there are a lot of videos on YouTube. You can try watching a few and then experiment to see what technique works for you. I‘ve never watched anyone else wire-wrap so I have no idea if what I do would be considered conventional or not...

You should play with some wire pearlgirl12! It might not be for everyone but you’ll never know until you try it. It opens up a whole different way of creating with pearls.
