Wow, so many pretty things to catch up on!! Tiger, terrific Tahitians! Ugh, I sure hope they are able to resolve your AC issue soon! BWeaves, those blues look great together! I have a short strand from PP that is similar to that, I think. Your earrings pair so nicely with them. Ooo, CatMom...

    Pearls, Pugs, and Beads

A creative way to work your beading magic with pearls, Pearls&Pugs! Marianne, on this forum, has created some beautiful beaded pieces with SOC mabe. If she sees this, maybe she would be willing to post her necklace. I might have a pic from one of the Ruckuses, but I would have to dig.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thank you, Pomelo! Hmmm… from Takahashi, I have the golden Akoya strand, the natural white, and then pinked white Akoya strands in slightly differing overtones. Then I have a few vintage strands that were either inherited or gifts. I had to think about your question as to why I choose which one...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thanks, Jeremy, BWeaves and CatMom! I love the little turtle clasp, too! Sarah had a few different creatures, but my favorite was the turtle. In fact, the necklace originally had another creature on it and she graciously changed it out to the turtle for me. Thank you for the sweet compliment...

Do pearl types differ in weight?

Thank you, Pomelo! The baroque natural grey Akoya studs are 10.51mm. They are actually pretty roundish to the eye. I have several pairs of studs from Takahashi including another pair of baroque natural grey that are 9-9.5 that I tend to wear more often. I love the silvery blue color on the ears...

Thank you, BWeaves and CatMom! Yeah, I guess it’s hard to get any sympathy when it was such a fantastic stash to play with. Ahhhh, dreamy goldens, Red! My all time favorites are those golden keshi. I remember standing by you when we were looking in that very very special box. BWeaves, I love...

Do pearl types differ in weight?

I am guessing the weight would be pretty comparable if you had the same size in any type of large bead nucleated pearl- SS, Tahitian, Edison, but just a guess. The largest pair of studs I have is a pair of SS that are 12.7mm. I haven’t changed any of my earring backs out, but I find the earring...

Thanks so much, BWeaves, Pearls&Pugs and CatMom! BWeaves, you are pulling off a glamorous June Cleaver vibe! Red, I love feather pearls, and I really love the lumpy shape of your new pendant! (That sounds unflattering and it’s not meant to be!) I made this tin cup last night with my dwindling...

If you could only have five pieces, what would they be and why?

I love this thread, Pomelo! Your question has generated posts from long timers as well as those of you fairly new to posting on PG. I am really enjoying seeing everyone’s choices and/or hearing their thoughts. Where have you been hiding Pearls&Pugs? I am very sentimental about pearls, too, and...

If you could only have five pieces, what would they be and why?

Pomelo, your danglies are a perfect example of knowing your own style, what you love and what you will wear. They look fantastic on you! I have created a lot of opportunities for myself through travels and through getting to know so many wonderful people in the pearl world, and so often it’s...

If you could only have five pieces, what would they be and why?

That’s a beautiful strand of Tahitians to start your collection, Pomelo! I’m afraid my answer will be long-winded and not very direct. My collection is more by eras. I did a little walk down memory lane and took a pic of the jewelry I wore through some of HS, all of college, and...
