    r they real

Here in Indonesia, many sellers do that... even to freshwater pearls even though it may cause damage to FWP. I'm not sure why, since there are easier ways to tell whether the pearls are fake or not and I've never done it myself. Maybe they're doing it to give a show to potential customer...

Natural Color, Deep Gold, High Luster, South Sea Pearls from Pearl Paradise

Gorgeous golden pearls! They're well worth the wait I think :) Lately it's also been kinda hard for me to get deep golden pearls, especially since gold comes in so many shades so I can understand the difficulty to find the perfect pair. The pairing with emerald is lovely too, I agree that they...

My white metallic freshwater strand, 8-8.5mm

Wow, luster is unbelievable !! On the first pic, the pearls look too perfect to be real, almost like glass pearl beads. If you didn't provide the second pic, it would be hard for me to believe they're actually real pearls! Congratulation on a great purchase :)

    HELP Are these Akoya pearls

Very beautiful pearls! One of the pearls is slightly off round, so my first guess when I saw the pics was freshwater. But I'm no expert in Akoya, and the pearls seem to have luster that can match Akoya. So, whether they're FWP or Akoya, you have lovely pearl earrings for sure.

The Pearl Trap: What are these pearls purchased from exotic locations?

One time I told a sales person in beading store that the pearls are fake/imitation and her reply was, "No, it's Swarovski pearls." Hmm......

Is this necklace good value and is it what the seller claims it is

HS Jewelry doesn't have good reputation... They claim this item as "a rare, huge 10.5mm, near round, Akoya saltwater cultured pearl with a lovely natural lavender color" which is bogus. You can check this review too from fellow PG member. So I believe that the pearls in the link you posted is...

    Expert advice needed please

I think from the ones you've mentioned, Pearl Society is the only one worth to try. I've never had experience with them, but some members here have and they're quite pleased with PS.

    Is it fair price?

Mrs Lai, the set looks beautiful on you! They're not round, but luster seems nice and $40 is a fair price. You mentioned that the pearls are from Borneo, but cmiiw, Borneo doesn't produce freshwater pearls, only South Sea pearls.

    More eye candy :)

WOW !!! I love the earrings! The ring design is a bit too grand for me, but I always love the combination of colorful gemstones with pearl. Thank you for sharing Valerene :D

Thank you (again) maiakity :) I recently got some new baroque and drop golden pearls, but unfortunately none can be turned into a matching pair as you requested before.. Good luck on your search for the yummy golden ones :)

    Metallic multicolored 9-10mm

I like the name "Moonglow" the best! :) I saw lavender one in the past exhibition, luster is very nice but not exactly metallic. The one Amrita posted, however, is closer to what I desired. What a gorgeous necklace!

    Dyed?

The more I look at it, the more I think the pearls are dyed. The concentrated orange color in spot and drill hole is the main reason, but also because of the body color. Does the color look like the pictures? Because to me, the color doesn't look like most golden south sea pearls. It looks a bit...

Thank you for the mention, both Erika and maiakity! :) Erika, I'm sorry for your experience. I hope PayPal will help sorting it out soon without much hassle..

    Dyed?

Hm.. usually dyed golden South Sea pearls are darker in color. But the orange-y color concentrated around top drill hole (I can see it in all of the pics) is making me suspicious.

    Lot of pearls

Thank you Valerene for answering my question. You have good collection of pearls, nice eye candies :) As Valerene said, the color on Dave's pearls is probably affected by the lighting. But I've seen some unique colors of SSP before, I might make new thread about it...

Barqoue South Seas versus nucleated Freshwater

I have checked the pictures many times but couldn't decide whether it's baroque SS or FW. My first guess was also baroque SS, due to some of the shapes, silvery color, and the sizes (nowadays flameballs are usually bigger, no?). But the opening price really gave me doubt of the authenticity...

    Lot of pearls

Great lot! Quite good sizes too. Where is this lot coming from, if I may ask?

    gold-green SS

I'm late to the discussion. But Ivona, you already know how I feel about the pearl ;) Have to say the mounting is equally gorgeous, ring looks so stunning on your finger. Thank you for this thread, I'm glad that the pearl can be appreciated by others :)
