I think the importance of authenticity is a good topic pertaining to Gods handiwork (pearls) but as you wish.

Seeking some details about this Mikimoto Strand

Ohhh I stand corrected. :) However, If Mikimoto has not given the permission to duplicate the replica becomes a counterfeit or fraudulent…. Not authentic… imitation of a well known brand to gain profit from buyer…. It’s all in the details. A replica is never legitimate, it is a representation...

Three different types, what are they?

Alright I believe you… I just haven’t seen button pearls that were knotted like that so it kinda threw me off… someone had showed me natural pearls that looked like this previously but I couldn’t find the article. Maybe I’m not remembering properly. The second ones I thought they might be South...

But it does indicate that they could be a replica. One way to find out… take it to a mikimoto store or contact them online about getting it authenticated, as they do authenticate their own items.

Definitely a thought I had as well. Why not use gold? Silver is cheaper, and easier for mass production. People make counterfeit shoes… for a $30-$200 profit, but the key factor is velocity. If they’re making a lot it adds up quick. Idk like in China or something. The one you found also appears...

Three different types, what are they?

Did you reaaaaally look at the first ones? They share characteristics with buttons but these are saltwater. How can I tell? The blemish. I’ll show you the larger ones once I’m done stringing but I do believe they are not akoya.

I kind of spoke out of my first impression. I zoomed in to the logo on both The SIL on your strand is not as uniform, it looks less uniform than the other but really like I said I’m not into the silver clasps so I could be wrong. Also, this style clasp is not marketed in silver, it is only...

The clasp. The logo. Seems off to me. But I used the word appear due to the fact that I’m not certain, but opinion. May be because I’m use to seeing gold but something still seems off. And what that something is, is not only the clasp but the quality of these pearls do not impress me, might be...

Antique natural wild pearls: an example and a mystery!

I am commenting on the diamonds as I am a diamond person ;-) They are “Rose Cut” with large culet. They look to be a decent size and dates back to early 1900’s. Very special

Helllllo. This might be a rather long post, I’ve been putting it off for some time now and these pearls have been in storage waiting to be strung. Two of the the three I am going to show you I need an identification on. I have my own well formed, educated opinion and assumption, however I need...

Never clasped Mikimoto Cultured Pearls Worth getting appraised locally?

lol I don’t know, perhaps. I like eBay, yes. It’s the only place I use for sales due to their high volume of customers, so you get a huge audience. If you know anyone locally who could help you out selling. Someone who has a background in selling pearls so maybe like a “consignment” I believe...

What clasp did Mikimoto use in 1970s?

The “M” charm is very recent.

What clasp did Mikimoto use in 1970s?

It doesn’t look like they used silk to string the pearls. I wonder if whoever did it would restring with silk? :( That is why they aren’t “hanging” properly…. I believe and from what I can see :)
