Show us your Black Friday Purchases!

Here's a quick neck shot of my first arrival. It's the akoya keshi strand from PP. Definitely keeping it. I have an antique brooch I would like to repurpose into a clasp for it, but I have to figure out how to do that first. I wish I could take better photos so you could see the luster.

Nevermind, I found it! I am in love with the tahitian and aquamarine necklace. And usually I'm not a fan of aquamarine, but they pair beautifully!

Purrhana, your loot is AMAZING! That GSSP ring is breathtaking! Where are you all seeing a link to JP's Etsy shop? Am I blind? I want to go check it out!

I was too busy trying to buy them to save a picture, but maybe someone else did?

That's good to hear about the Tahitians! And yes, there was a couple BEAUTIFUL strands of multicolor Akoyas that I am waitlisted on should one of them be returned *crosses fingers*.

I just went back and read through the thread. Looks like a lot of us went for the oval strand!

Whoever got the multicolor akoyas, I'm so angry with you! I was trying for 15 minutes for the order to go through and apparently they sold out by 9:02, because that's when I first tried. If you return them, let me know! I got an akoya keshi strand and silver oval tahitian. I'm nervous about the...

How can you tell WSSP from FWP?

One of these days I would love to be able to see a strand of WSSPs in person so I can familiarize myself with them. But it would certainly be unkind to buy some knowing I'm going to return them for this sake. Maybe one day I'll get lucky and find a jewelry store that stocks them. Thanks for the...

    Too large to wear?

Depending on how heavy they are, I would probably wear them. I know I would totally wear them as a bracelet.

Dave, do you know of any good (free) resources for learning the more technical side of things? The Pearls as One course is wonderful, but I feel like I've just scratched the surface of something wonderful!

Who wants to go to BALI?!?!

I'm trying to finish the course ASAP so I can enter. Question, must I have the certificate to qualify or can I complete the course and be waiting on the certificate?

How can you tell WSSP from FWP?

Oh, I don't have any plans on buying any in the near future. I have one that I got for a steal from Pearl Society that I made into a beaded choker (will take pictures eventually), I just want to learn since from pictures I can't really see a difference if they FWP are just right.

How can you tell WSSP from FWP?

I may be an idiot, but with the new FWPs out there, I'm not really sure how to tell what is a genuine WSSP and a FWP imitation. Are there any tell-tale signs a consumer should look out for?

Well, I'm super embarrassed of my answer now. What an idiot I look like! Regardless, this is so informative and I love it and need to read more!

Really stunning! I'm so envious of everyone's pearls on here! Hopefully some day I will be able to build up something respectable.

    pearl sac tissue

This is all conjecture, because I'm not that knowledgeable (yet!) but I would assume there are times when the grafts are rejected. It is foreign tissue, after all, and if they can reject bead nuclei, certainly they can reject tissue nuclei. I think maybe the color of the inside of the shells is...
