They were totally just trying to get you to buy something. Your pearls are gorgeous and there's no reason to assume they are fake upon looking at them. That person just had a crappy approach.

Yup, both are definitely CFW. Doesn't mean they're not pretty! The lighter ones look like natural colors (although could be dyed) and the darker ones are most definitely dyed since CFW do not come in such colors naturally. I'm also curious as to where you got them x-rayed and the cost.

The only way I'd buy from a non-vetted vendor without seeing the merch in person would be if I'm willing to risk the money. I've bought plenty of cheap pearls on eBay, for example, where if they're cheap enough, I'll take the risk. I probably would never buy anything in skymall magazine or...

If I were wearing my pearls, I'd clutch them! The thought of wearing a pearl ring and not taking it off every time I got near any sort of abrasive or corrosive substance fills me with more horror than is probably appropriate. :eek:
