My first ever attempt at stringing pearls!

Thanks Lugana! We used Griffin thread with the needle at the end, and did single knots. Instead of moving the entire strand of knotted pearls through the loop we threaded the needle through the loop. We tried just using our thumbnails, a needle, tweezers and the knotting tool. I liked the...

My first ever attempt at stringing pearls!

I had a 50" freshwater strand from 2008/2009 that was falling apart... it was never strung well to begin with, and many of the pearls were sliding over the pathetic knots. Pearls started gathering together and I was prepared for it to break any minute. There is a specialty pearl vendor in town...

Jersey - those mixed dangles are GORGEOUS! Both pairs are so well matched and meant for each other. Sunseeker - beautiful pendant! Pearly Whites - love your huge SSP and that FWP strand... I love mixed sized pearl necklaces. It looks great against that cream sweater!

Thanks ladies! I did really enjoy wearing this blue rope yesterday, I went to my class and got a few compliments on it too! I won't let the flaws bother me too much, I did pay a good price for these!

I love the pairs you chose, hanadama! I am wearing 2 baroque blue akoya strands that I stumbled upon shortly after my blue akoya earrings arrived. They're both 17" so I joined them end to end to make a 34" strand. They were attractively priced and fairly inexpensive, and it's reflected in the...

No Pearly-Whites, I have never tried making jewelry :) I bought that, but am taking classes so that I can restring my own pearls rather than paying the ridiculous $4/inch fee some local pearl jewelry vendor is charging!

purranha - wow! I love the pink with greenish overtones with the jade! Very unusual but gorgeous! MSC - that little keshi tin cup is so dainty and pretty! I'm wearing an opera length white freshwater strand with a little pearl tassel enhancer. I love pearl tassel necklaces (fashion-wise, the...

I have some serious catching up to do on this thread! MSC - you always have lovely pearls, but in the last few days the Dancing Keshi have been my fav! hanadama - beautiful pendant!! I have yet to get my first Tahitians, but I would definitely want purple/aubergine in mine. Pearly Whites -...

Thanks ladies! :D BW - love your Tahitians! hanadama - those lavenders are so pretty, I think they're a great size for your ears! I'm wearing these dainty and simple baroque blue Akoya drops today. They're 8-8.5mm and the colour and overtone are mesmerizing. I would love to own an opera or...

eBay Auctions - are these real? Undrilled Pearls

Do I have a very skewed view of how much pearls should cost? I just looked at all the expensive pearls he/she has left and I don't feel any of them are worth close to the asking price. Yeah, they're big, but the lustre seems lacking and the bottom side of the pearl shows a circular area with no...

I'm wearing some fun costume pearl jewelry today. These are gold vermeil flowers with baroque SSP drops. This particular pearl is pretty and luminous, but the pair is poorly matched IMO because the other pearl is more blemished and the lustre not as great. If I'm feeling adventurous, I might...

Thank you BW and Pearly Whites :) Lovely party pearls, MSC! That ring is so pretty (is that pearl with the halo of sparklies around it a ring? I can't tell)

It might just be the lighting in the picture, but it looks to me the akoyas are a little more blue, whereas the Tahitians are more silver. Both are gorgeous, however.

Thank you! Katbran - the butterfly is completely surrounded by silicone. It's much more secure and a bunch of earrings I've ordered from vendors on Etsy have come with them!

I just received these GSSP studs last week. They are about 9 mm and my first GSSP. Initially I wasn't sure how I'd feel about GSSP's, but over the last little while they're climbing up my list of favourite pearls. These earrings are a perfect and more affordable way to own GSSP's, and look like...
