    Poison Pearl history

My question is more related to Douglas' original comment above, assuming that a symmetrical FW at the time of a vintage strand's production would be natural. That Persian Gulf is a traditional hub for the international pearl trade beyond its local production leaves the door wide open.

    Poison Pearl history

The size and shape of the pearls in question, predating Chinese technology by many decades, would have made them as rare and valuable as the naturals. Perhaps not intended as poison but just the opposite?

Ideas for how to use a pearl tassel

OK so bail is an option for you. Looking forward to seeing your ideas on integrated stringing or chain without bail. Our jeweler has determined that what we are wanting is a hinged bail. This will preserve a two-sided presentation.

    Poison Pearl history

What would be the most likely source of the FW predating modern Chinese FWs? Is there any chance the pearl was introduced at a later date upon restringing, not only as an intentional ‘defect’ but as a test for the labs to give increased credibility to their reports? But I guess it’s clear that...

Additionally it would seem quite difficult to create a bail that would successfully match that cap.

SOC keshi pendant, 18k two-sided setting based on the Grace model. Custom findings took a bit longer to complete. Photo by Pearl Paradise before leaving the studio, as my initial attempts to capture the pearls upon receipt have been woefully inadequate. Thanks to Hisano for her diligence and...

What’s my Grandfathers Clam Pearl Worth

Definitely better than the pearl alone. Does the top of the locket press down on the pearl to keep pearl and shell in place?

Ideas for how to use a pearl tassel

Elias, I've since discovered a mine of threads here on tassels over the years. Search 'tassel' in thread titles. What about your bail? Are you considering an enhancer? The clasp on the attached piece would accommodate ours, in addition to the aforementioned chain, strand of GSS, etc...

    Eureka, Elizabeth Strack's Pearls

That was at the Tucson Gem Show, AGTA theme that year was pearls and all the luminaries and top researchers were there. One of my greatest pearl memories was sitting at dinner with Elizabeth, our own Douglas (Cortez Pearls) and Blaire (GemGeek). Wish I had a group photo, but here I was with...

    Pearls by the Bay 2024

Just picked up the finished ring, photo on a CLOUDY Seattle morning. We're very pleased with this serendipitous result of meeting Edgar at PBTB and Wendy's expert guidance here prior to meeting with the jeweler. Updating measurements, that replacement for the original lost Poe Pipi is actually...

Certainly, any baroques trying to pass as keshis may be discovered by keeping on good terms with your dentist and his X-Ray equipment. The greater challenge is distinguishing a tissue-nucleated keshi from a natural. Nucleation refers to the insertion of mantle tissue. If a bead is inserted...

Appreciate the back comments. There are those in the Indo-Pacific that seem to have taken up that torch to commercial benefit. It is also reflective that 'round' is not the mantra it once was.

    Can I extract this pearl?

Just looked on Amazon and Gyan Books out of New Delhi has a leather-bound edition, $62 delivered no charge for Prime by early August. I'd say that would make a perfect gift for a pearl lover, even if that pearl lover is one's self!

Ideas for how to use a pearl tassel

Elias, thanks and that makes sense. As for jewelry, I'm a work in progress. If you decide on small golden pearls for your tassel I could provide a lead.

Ideas for how to use a pearl tassel

For us it will be a chain, a hefty weave like foxtail. In another thread just yesterday yellow vs. white metal for gold pearls came up, with mixed opinions. I tend towards white for this, especially as the cap will have the gold pearls embedded which would tend to disappear. But my avatar is a...

Ideas for how to use a pearl tassel

That tassel cap has a very attractive rustic look. As for replacement pearls much depends on your budget. Seed (under 2mm) pearls or small keshi would provide much richer appearance than the original. Gold would be great. As I'm not aware of another tassel thread here at P-G I'll add to this...
