I agree the semi-round pearls are Akoya. They are not quite baroque, some where between the two descriptions. Great luster and color. I would not wear with the small ones which are quite likely natural. Most round pearls that size are natural and in your gg grandmother's time that was all there...

Hi Fresh water or Akoya are gong to make some difference. Fresh water quality is improving to the point where photos of necklaces, (with out blemishes) make it very hard to determine FWCP from Akoya. If there are blemishes or out of round it is a different matter.

Historically Mikimoto brand name has not come anywhere close to Cartier (sp), Tiffany. I've come across Mikimoto pins for years and they are now made in Spain with the Mikimoto logo. Not measure up to the advertising. Sorry.
