    Buying and Selling on eBay

Maybe it is the new internet laws that are being pushed by the movie/music industry lobby to prohibit any type of free distribution. Anyways, I just had to vent. It takes ages to make pictures, describe the item and post it. In my case everything was just terminated without making contact first...

    Buying and Selling on eBay

Ha. I just went off the phone with Ebay and my experience got me thinking about all the sellers offering fake South Seas, Akoyas and what not. I just experienced Ebays Copyright madness in all things not pearls. Since I am moving soon, I decided to sell off whatever I have no immediate use of...

Environmentally (and socially) responsible pearl farming?

I find this an interesting article. It is more or less what I wish would happen. There are markets, e.g. Switzerland, where fair trade is something that potential buyers will consider. Swiss are very sensitive to how products are generated. Switzerland incidently is also one of the countries...

    Buying and Selling on eBay

I hate shopping in physical stores and, as a consequence, I do almost all my shopping on ebay (with the exception of grocery shopping of course). I shop practically all my clothes and shoes there, as well as high end designer furniture or general household items. What I cannot get on ebay...

    Bali Indonesia Pearl Farm

There is a new study out in PNAS about corals in the Barrier Reef. The looked at the various influences of coral reef disappearance. Not sure whether that applies to other areas as well. http://news.mongabay.com/2012/1001-hance-greatbarrierreef-halved.html

    Bali Indonesia Pearl Farm

Perhaps mass mortality is more a problem of aquaculture and stock selection (did they do that in France?). Since most pearl farms probably use wild or still genetically diverse stock, they may not see this as a problem yet. Having said that I thought Japanese pearl farms have had mass mortality...

Environmentally (and socially) responsible pearl farming?

I have seen pop up some articles about ocean acidification and I try to find them again. Nature has recently introduced a new journal called "Nature Climate Change". I have not had the time to read it consistently, but they do have some manuscripts on coral reefs in their latest issue...

Very unusual pearls -- need help identifying

I call these types of Chinese freshwater the "chicken feet" pearls. They remind me of some of the dishes my Chinese friends like. Though yours come with an additional bar across, which I have never seen so far. Look like hands indeed.
