X-ray at a dentist's? That at least should tell whether the pearls are nucleated or not.

advice needed on purchasing Tahitian pearls

I would say that for this reason, I only purchase cheap pearls over the internet from sellers I know little about. Otherwise I go with reputation. It is like buying a carpet or an "antique" on your travels. You have to decide how much you like the product, fake or real, and how much you are...

advice needed on purchasing Tahitian pearls

The vendor's picture show round pearls that I am more inclined to believe are real Tahitians. Your pictures suggested that some of the pearls have potato shapes, which would be more typical for FW. Can you get better pictures of yours that show the pearls like the vendor's pics? So, either it is...

advice needed on purchasing Tahitian pearls

I don't know whether you can easily get a refund. Otherwise, if you did not pay too much, they are quite nice pearls. I do like the peacock strand.

Some of the pearls, particularly on the left strand, look a bit potatoe-ish to me.

Stringing Tutorial with photos: Stringing on Serafil, Beaders Secret & Power Pro

Thanks for the knot contribution. I have been pondering over this the last weeks as single knots do not satisfy me. I may have to redo some necklaces and give it a try. It is a "dangerous" hobby. I have finally decided to finish all my pieces and sell them, but find it very hard to reach that...

    Paspaley trims its sails...

What is certainly outdated is the design of the webpage. Only a very patient person will spend time on it. I am not that person. I also value imperfection. Perfection can be boring pretty quickly. Mikimoto poses the same problem to me. Their designs are too symmetrical, too perfect. I like rough...

I had the same impression. The writer certainly was not a fan of the company. What I was surprised about is his indication that the luxury market is lagging.

    Pearl authentication help

I personally would never buy from sellers like this. Even if the pearls looked like the best deal. The feedback is too concerning. There is always a chance of stingy or picky buyers, but this feedback is substantial and, like others said above, smells of a Chinese seller with less than ethical...

what quality is this south sea pearls ?

Based on the blemishes I would also say AA - AA+ depending on whether you are showing the worst pearls or whether they are typical. Is the luster as dull as it looks on your pictures?

    Freshwater Keishis

I like the look. If you want some other stones, I find grey-ish, metallic keshis go well with Tanzanite.

how long should I expect refunds after I return my pearls

If you paid by credit card, you can always call the credit company if the retailer does not get back to you. I got money credited that way in the past. This of course, if there was a clause that you can return the merchandise. If the small print rules out returns, you may be in the dust.

Wedding Pearl Jewelery - Know Very Little

I would go with earrings only. Have your friends wear bracelets in a contrasting color to their dresses.

    lavender pearls and skin tone

I am about the same. Dark brown hair, bright blue eyes and skin color neutral to lightly tanned. I mostly wear black with some bold colors or neutrals mixed in. I do wear rich oranges. Red and pastels, as well as yellow look terrible on me. One of the best colors for me to wear is actually a...

It depends how much you paid for them and how much shipping them back would be. International shipping got expensive and it is too much work in my opinion. I usually take the loss then. GemGeek's recommendation is spot on. Even boring pearls can be made up into something exciting. That is if you...

    Undrilled Cortez Keshi's

I am working on a necklace with Kamoka keshis. Black diamonds with hanging top drilled pearls. I would do top-drilled rather than fully for a more expensive looking design and fully drilled for a fun design. I am still hunting for appropriate findings (always the biggest problem for me).
