Antique Natural Pearl Strand Value ???

Oh my God, how horrible would that be. Hopefully this will not turn out to be the case. But I find it rather unlikely. From the pic Caitlin posted, I think most women would notice the sudden roundness of the pearls and know they weren't the same. It is a rather profound change, even for...

    Pinctada Maculata (Pipi) Pearls

Wow, smetzler, wow! It was well worth the wait! What stunning photos you got at Pearl Paradise...now I don't feel so bad about my nagging. heehee Thanks again also for the continued story. This trip has been fascinating to travel with you via Pearl-Guide. I know this thread must be doing...

    All about silk thread

Hi Knotty, I can translate for you. On the first picture, the dark writing ?????is the name of the company, which would be pronounce o-ri-zu-ru. The kanji in the right corner says whole silk thread. On the pack is mainly recycling info, saying the packing is plastic and paper. Oh, and in...

    My First Freshwater Pearls

LOL, can't believe I did this. My ropes are only 60 inch as well. I am not quite sure how I made that mistake. I hadn't worn them in a while and must have exaggerated their length in my mind. Actually, I think Raisondetre had a thread up called Terry's pearls. I think the ropes she posted...

    My First Freshwater Pearls

The thing I like about my multi-color rope is that, to me, it looks like candy. Do you remember those necklaces that were strung on elastic and you could bite off each bead. I think almost every girl in the US had to have one at least. ;) Anyway, while they don't look much alike, the...

    My First Freshwater Pearls

Hi Sueki, Did you get that from The Pearl Outlet? It looks like the 100-inch rope I got from them. Just curious. It looks beautiful. I know I love mine!

    Natural Black Pearls

Hi Valeria, Well, I think that necklace is a stunner. I can just imagine it drapping down some flapper-style dress. I love jewelry in the Art Deco style. Thanks for posting! Love the necklace smetzler posted as well.

    Going to China

Hey, just wanted to add a tip. In Japan, especially in the country side, many bathrooms don't have toilet paper either. So if you go, rather than bring a whole roll of tp, bring the small, disposable tissue packs. They fit much easier and don't unravel. ;)

    pearls and sterling

Hi Boo, I for one am in favor of the baking polish. It is more natural, and I usually get a brighter polish than from my polishing cloths. I have tried toothpaste, but I have seen some scratching on some flat surfaces. So I don't use that anymore. Although I am not so sure about baking soda...

    Funny story about buying pearls

LOL, Knotty, you have tears running down my face from laughter. Love the G.I.A. unofficial definition. Black market pearls huh? Off the street? Sounds shady! What a wonderful story. If Jeremy has time, he should give him a little call. Or invite him to jpin us here on the forum! :D

eBay find of the day: tridacna pearls

LOl, I love these photos, Cailtin. Is it just me, or does it look like a lump of wax? That's the only thing that will stay in my mind, a cold lump of wax. MAybe if it sells the buyer will show up here and tell us about it. Wouldn't that be interesting.

Pearl of Allah, Fact; Pearl of Lao Tsu, Fiction

Hi Kari, Oh, I am so thrilled to see you posting here. I put up a link to your site in the beginning of May under a thread called Interesting Pearl sites. I was hoping more people would reference other good sites for reading, but my post remained solo. :( But I am so glad to have a chance...

Pearl of Allah, Fact; Pearl of Lao Tsu, Fiction

LOL, it is totally perfect!! Honestly, some people have too much money for their own good it someone buys that. If someone combined the two, they could put the quote,"Beauty is only skin deep, ugly is to the bone", but change it to "...ugly to the brain." Lol, that is the best I can come up...

Wow, that shine is just fantastic. Talk about mirror! And what colors! Yes, Caitlin, we will all be waiting for results on this one. Mainly though, I just want to read your first impressions when they arrive.:D

    Colors of Freshwaters

After reading these posts, I looked again at Jeremy's photo and I can see a bicolor pearl. It is towards the middle of the second strand from the top. It almost looks black and white to me. The way the photo shows on my screen I can't discern the colors very well, but I can see the difference...

Pearl of Allah, Fact; Pearl of Lao Tsu, Fiction

Yeah, Wikipedia. The problem with that, from what I understand is anyone can submit an article if there isn't one already on a certain topic. I had the feeling it wasn't really fact checked in general, but only if someone reported a problem. It is sad to think of all the school...

Pearl of Allah, Fact; Pearl of Lao Tsu, Fiction

LOl, sorry Knotty. I think you misunderstood me. I didn't think you were being sarcastic at all. I was happy you laughed. ;) I was just wondering if you knew who I was comparing Wiki too. I was just(perhaps lamely) trying to continue the joke and have you quess my edited comparison. Sorry...

Pearl of Allah, Fact; Pearl of Lao Tsu, Fiction

Hi Knotty, No, I know many families have records. Mine has been traced back several hundred years, but Lao Tzu is believed to have been born between 600-300 B.C. I find it hard to think many families would have documented unbroken family lineages going back more than 2000 years. I mean, if...

    Coin Pearls

Hiya, Nice coin pearls, but I prefer the rose keshi you posted, what, two weeks ago? Those were spectacular. These are nice, especially if the price stays where it is.
