TRIP AROUND THE WORLD? Feb 28th - Mar 26th

Good to see my mate (and Fijian counterpart) Justin tell it like it is. And great work Josh with the camera. Every time I watch one of your vids I learn something new about making the subject matter a little more dynamic.

What the GIA Pearl Course says! Caitlin I knew that you knew that I knew that you knew I was kidding. ;)

    Is this Top Peacock Tahitian??

Hi Pearlies, I think that $1,900 for an extremely rare necklace of Tahitian pearls with over-the-moon color is not too much to pay. What bothers me though is the photos. It seems to me that they have been enhanced (saturated) to boost the colors in way that makes them look a little over the...

    online pearl conference

Very true what you said Jeremy about it being easy to dis what you don't understand. For me CFWP's are super mysterious and many-tentacled. I'd be fooling myself to say that that industry as a whole was not threatening.

    Damage "Black Pearl"

Hi Cathy, I'm not sure that the smuggling tarnishes all Tahitian black pearls. I would like to think that pearls with an identifiable provenance shine as brightly as ever. :)

Real life pearl pirates at Kamoka.

Hi everyone, this is a teaser of a blog entry http://tinyurl.com/3szxxqm that I just wrote. Been having fun "putting to paper" some pearly adventures. I could feel it in my eyelids as well as my legs and back and arms. The moment I savored most each day was coming fast. Pulling a sheet over...

New Guide About Tahitian Pearls - really?

Come on Caitlin, why would I kill a wild oyster? Isn't there enough mollusc suffering as it is? I mean just think about all that irritating sand that they have to deal with as it is ;)

    Lagoon Island Pearl Farm

Oh man, this sounds like so much fun. I would drive from Portland, probably. Be great to share costs on a van. What are others thinking? Fly to Vancouver first? I'm thinking of saving money and having a road trip (photo opportunities, roadside mushroom foraging, etc). What works for...

Pearl farming photo essay in Islands Magazine

Hi Sheryl, Not sure what happened. My answer to your post vanished. Yes! I'm coming down to get my boogie on for sure! Can't wait! :)

    Damage "Black Pearl"

Jeremy, thanks for spelling this one out. There is no way that that pearl was exported through legal means. The nacre looks to be less than half a mm at it's thinnest (where it will be measured by export controls) which is no where near the minimum nacre thickness of legit Tahitian pearls...

Pearl farming photo essay in Islands Magazine

Ramona, Islands hits a pretty cashed up demographic actually. Maybe I just haven't been patient enough. I know they are waiting with their credit cards and Paypal accounts to clean us out so we can make lot's more pearls! Dave, we usually fly to Ahe (www.airtahiti.pf) then boat from the...
