    Help me pick one....

I like 3 and 4 for the balanced mix of colors. Great overtones and not too elongated shapes (elongated is not my personal preference). I would really love to have one of those ;) Maria

Dogeared Jewelry - perpetrating the myth

Thanks, everybody, the terms are much more clear now. The both, Mokume and Keum-boo are very interesting techniques. I don't think I ever saw any piece of jewelry done in Mokume in person. Is the surfice smooth or kind of raised or can be done both ways? Maria

Dogeared Jewelry - perpetrating the myth

I am curious as well. Thought that "the gold filled" stood for the solid gold as some items are "empty inside". Now, reading Judi's post, I figured maybe it stands for some alloy that contains gold. Does anybody here knows what does the "gold filled" exactly stands for ? Thanks! Maria

Actually, I thought of a real painting, on canvas/paper using oil or pastel perhaps. I wonder if it would be possible to capture the special features of these pearls on painting... the "egg" maybe? Your avatar is awesome! Maria

    Nautilus pearl

My thought exactly - "like the surface of the moon". Maybe it is reasonable to set the pearl into a brooch as it would be easier setting on a desired angle. I wonder if somebody would be able to paint the pearl... it would demand a 3D capability though.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by "needle gauge"? If you mean size of a needle, then I really don't know - I've seen only one type of pearl needles available in Tallinn. If you are only starting to knot, then maybe you could try the method doing it without sliding knots with the needle right away...

Yes, you are so right - all the elements of a great story are here. You could write a book later about the mystery and search for the Nautilus pearl. Yet, it is not only the story, that keeps calling me back, but also the fascination of witnessing the passion you, Tom Stern and others...

Been busy and away from PG. No, I have not taken any classes. A friend of mine showed me how she knots. So I tried and it was not that terrible :). I use a needle to slide the knot to the right place. Now I want to learn another method. I have got silvery dyed rice fw-s waiting ;)

    Big Honking Bead Nucleated Freshwaters

No, I did not know about orange cats being usually boys. I had a light orange boy hamster, when a child. He was very productive with the black fur girl hamster, making a lot of black babies :) :) I do know little about the cats, I have only had hamsters and a dog. After she passed I just could...
