Hmmm, I reckon the round pearl should weigh more as, on a circled pearl, the circles are areas without nacre, whereas on the round pearl, those circles are filled in with nacre...... If you see what I mean.....:) A bit like Emmental cheese should weigh less, area for area, than, say, cheddar...

Hi Akoya, Yes, I've had akoyas, South Sea and other bead-nuked pearls where the bead is loose inside the nacre. The pearls aren't hollow, but the bead has spun around so the drill hole no longer lines up with the hole in the nacre..... Very frustrating... :( But I've always managed to re-align...
