Please help identify our little collection?

Here it is. Sorry for the photo. It's not nearly so "yellow". Roughly 40mm long.

    Antique seed pearl necklace restoration

Hello, I hope that this is the right place to ask about this. I bought this with my wife with the idea of restoring it but it's been years and we haven't found where to send it. I'm hoping someone here can recommend somebody with the patience (and eyes) for the job. My wife loves it but can't...

Please help identify our little collection?

Well since the rest are "accounted for" might I ask for info on the last two? The two antique shop buys are the only ones left that I know nothing about so if either of you or anyone else can give any insights I would appreciate it very much. Again, Thanks in advance!!! The two orphaned...

Please help identify our little collection?

BWeaves thank you for the information! Since you mentioned baroque's I'll have to get the boss to dig out the first birthday gift I ever bought her which was also the first piece of jewelry I ever commissioned so I can post it later this week. She still says it's one of her favorite pieces. If I...

Please help identify our little collection?

The only history I have on these is that I purchased these in a very nice vintage Jewelry boutique in a mall just north of Seattle while waiting for my wife to get out of an artist workshop, and as I did it on my own they couldn't have been too expensive. The tongue on the necklace clasp is...

Please help identify our little collection?

I convinced my wife that she needed a new strand of SSP pearls at an estate auction the other day and when we went to put them away we realized that over the years she had accumulated a collection we had forgotten. I found Pearl-Guide and have become slightly obsessed I think (there's so much...

    Are these dead?

It actually has 3 loops each side so I thought it might work. Is it out dated though?

    Are these dead?

Aha!!!! Well at least the clasp is 14k with real Opals! Boy do I feel dumb. Is the term Majorca indicative of their Origin? If so it makes sense they went there a couple of times. I was wondering why the "Tahitians" and these felt a little tacky when cleaning and the lighter ones with white...

    Are these dead?

Thank you for BOTH replies!! I went back and manipulated the pic to show the damage in more contrast. If you look at the center of each pearl the color is very uniform whereas the "darker" areas have more rainbow iridescence.

    Are these dead?

When my mother passed she left some pearls to my wife. We actually forgot about them until yesterday when we purchased another strand and found these when she went to put the new ones away. These strands had not seen daylight in probably 15+ years and I thought it prudent to "gently" clean them...

    New purchase SSP?

Thank you again for all the info!!! Another question just occurred to me. Do pearls appear different in color based on lighting for example daylight vs fluorescent?

    New purchase SSP?

Thanks! I've read that pearls should be restrung every year or so. Does that apply even if they are not worn? She is more of a collector that wearer. I see that you are in Connecticut so you should have an idea who I can go to in the New England area for that service and how much I should expect...

    New purchase SSP?

I would guess that they were. I noticed that as well! Not that it matters now but do you think I did ok at $1500?

    New purchase SSP?

Thanks! It was between a shorter triple strand or these at a local estate auction, both from the same estate. You are correct, with the clasp 24.5". I would have said white out in daylight but against the printer paper backround there is a cream cast under fluorescent light. She has definitely...

    New purchase SSP?

Hello I am new to the site and also to pearl buying/collecting. I bought these for my wife the other day and was told they were "South Sea Pearls" and were graduated from 12-14mm. I saw the thread on candled pearls and tried my hand at it and saw the bead and halo of Nacre round it in most of...

    Candled Natural Pearls

I was really referring to imaging the bead/halo and was curious if I captured it properly. For some reason I find this thread fascinating and I have been experimenting (very hit and miss) with imaging other gems and my watches as a hobby so I thought I'd try my hand. Any suggestions on...

    Candled Natural Pearls

Hello, I am new to the forum and to pearls as well. I have purchased some pearls for my wife in the past but never thought to research them before. We just got the pictured necklace and as I have started researching other gems I looked online and found this thread. I was amazed by the amount...
