    How to use a cone

I could have left the gold beads off, but I thought, better the edge of the cone rubs on them rather than the pearls.

    How to use a cone

I have placed a rolled gold cone over the head pin so you can see. After I knot another strand I'll put the cones on for real. Make a loop outside the narrow end to attach to my clasp.

Okay... I used a headpin, made a ring and wrapped the end. I , so far, have 4 strands of pearls attaxhed, planning on one more. All in coffee and cream shades but you can't really see

    Alternate uses for FW pearls.

I throw the pearls that didn't make the cut into a plastic crate. I gave a bag full each to a couple of the girls at my sons school, they were so excited! lol I think they would look great in a brandy balloon or other nice glass container, you could fill it with water to really bring out the...

When I started I tried gold plate. I turned brown in a matter of days (the stuff I was wearing) so I moved on to rolled gold.

I live in the tropics and wear my gold filled earrings day and night, only taking them off to wash my hair. I haven't had any discolour.

Newbie, knotting techniques and thread choice

Try different silk thicknesses too I most often use F or FF, occasionally E (that's all Guderbrod) The main thing is use the thickest thread you can comfortably get through the drill holes twice.

    A Needle Thread

My favourites are Beadalon fine collapsible eye needles, packets of 50. 2 1/2 inches. I went looking and found them: http://www.greatcraftworks.com/index.php?sid=98b88f224e1ef644bd9df1a49d94ae74&item=573 I recently got some with a round eye but they're like trying to work with a hair!

Newbie, knotting techniques and thread choice

Oh I love knotting with silk. I occasionally use synthetics, like superlon, and just got some powerpro. I haven't had silk break... just knot itself in an inconvenient place or get into a snaggle, but mostly it's fine (might be me when it misbehaves eh?)
