Your necklace sounds lovely Bernadeyye.. any piccies? :o) I love mixing pearls and it can be a pain with varying drill hole sizes.. all a bit of trial and error. I still love using silk, but as I live in the tropics, if a favourite is strung on powerpro and I sweat all over it (ewww lol) I can...

I think the main thing with the knots is that they are big enough for the drill hole, otherwise the pearls either side can slide over it.

I have 8lb, 10lb, 20lb and 30lb. I use 30lb most of the time. I suppose I use it on bigger pearls, but it really depends on how big the drill holes are.

Only if I don't hold the flame close enough. I think you'd get black from the tip of the flame. Of course we have ceiling fans and that makes it all a bit hairy lol... the flame moves about a bit and theres a danger of burnt fingers.

I bought a thread zapper but I prefer to use a cigarette lighter. Trim powerpro to about a quarter inch, then melt.

I have some like these but mine were DEFINITELY from China heh heh

Bad news about your job. It might be a good time for research.. save pictures of pearls you like (I have some VERY nice baroque paspaley pearls courtesy of Blair :o) ). You can't wear them, but you can look any time you want and you'll learn as you go. Cathy
