Hi Katbran, I use one needle only- the type of needle I use are the stiff sort. Reaming and drilling that's for another thread- the difference between 0.8 and 0.9mm isn't going to make a difference in later rearranging the pearls.

What I do when I have a large hole pearl, I put a small holed pearl tight up to the large holed pearl and then continue knotting as normal.

The problem is usually the wire products, thread would help as it does not roll on the neck like the wire products. I think you would still have an issue because what ever you put at the back if wire was used, it's the nature of the beast. One last thing gimp, French wire can also contribute...
