Happy you enjoyed the article, it’s incredible that a “simple” mollusk can create something, that the best of human effort still finds so challenging to achieve.

    need help with double strand

Hi Linda, congratulations on your double row strand, for a first attempt you have done a fantastic job. When using new pearls you can finish off the first strand as long as you know the starting off length (including the clasp). If the necklace was going to be a graduated necklace, recommend...

how to prevent "V" shape when wearing strands

BWeaves you are spot on! I am not a fan or advocate for using wire\cable on pearls, I see on a daily basis in the repair side of my business, the detrimental effects of cable\wire, on pearls. For 18" to 20" lengths you can definitely use thread instead of wire, especially if the correct...

Double Strand White - Hong Kong 1994

Yes, cultured akoya pearls. In my early days of rethreading back in the eighties early ninety’s knotting pearl strands was not as popular as it is today. Pesky toggles

In another thread Lady_Disdain mentioned a locking toggle which sounds fabulous. Another suggestion if you can’t source one is to put a bar on the ring suggested to a friend and she has had no trouble since it was adjusted.

    victorian (?) necklace

Hi Parfaitelumiere, bit hard to say they are natural by the pictures alone. I have only came across 3 natural strands in my restringing career (34 years) natural pearls are very different to restring than cultured. If the correct thickness of thread was used, knots would not detract from the...
