Natural and cultured pearls at famous Paris XXVI? Biennale

I do think you could find natural gold akoya keshi - they would be rare. If there are natural gold akoyas (and there are, and they are gorgeous, see the thread on Broken Bay pearls) then no reason why the keshi could not be gold color? Those earrings are just amazing... Anna, I am loving...

    What do I have here?

Hi, and welcome, Happy Huku, The pearls are beautiful, thank you for showing us. Looking forward to your answers to Pattye's questions... they will certainly tell us a lot more about your pearls. 1989 is very early for CFWP to be so even, but they do indeed look like real pearls...

    Pearl diver dies in Broome

I just received the link to the online, weekly version of our monthly Australian Jeweller magazine. Quoted from the email, I will post the link separately to the main story: It was a week of more, more, more! After being on the wrong end of an ABC Four Corners investigation about its...

    Pearl diver dies in Broome

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the Hampton family, and thank them for their input onto this forum. I haven't commented for a week or so - I am not a diver, but have had many of my years as a physiotherapist working in Occupational Health - advising government, industry, and...

    Pearl diver dies in Broome

I don't think it was recommended to have a medical staffer - just to limit the number of 'green' divers on any boat at one time; and the presence of both an emergency diver (someone who is kitted up but remains onboard for an effective, quick rescue), and a rescue boat... none of these were...

    Pearl diver dies in Broome

Hi - I have had crossed lines here - didn't see this thread and have posted the link to the Four Corners program on the thread that Jeremy started. Having just watched the program there are some major questions, but the lack of response from Paspaley to the program seems to have more to do with...

Want to get some South Sea pearls jewellery

Don't know the name of the store, but Arthur Wong, of one of the large shell companies, has a retail outlet at the Peak, and one downtown in TST - I think the one at the Peak is a bit more user-friendly. You might try a pm to a member here, Mikeyy, for Arthur's details.

    Import Pearls

I have done some buying at the offices doing a bank transfer at the time of purchase.... seems to be okay, but I guess they know me. Declaration on re-entry is dependent on your own government's customs laws - check before you leave home!

I'm going to be brave and attempt drilling a FW pearl, but first... recommendations?

Get a drill, Adeline! Sarah is completely correct - you will do so much more just because you have it. I am happy enough with Chinese drills - I am sure the Japanese ones are better, but the cost differential is enormous. I have had one 'die' on me, only to replace it for about $140 from one...

    Travelling with Pearls

Hi Dave, In Aus we have a temporary exit requirement - paperwork to exit the country so that on re-entry, no additional taxes or duty is payable... It basically declares the goods were per-owned. Of course it also tells your government that you are earning income overseas.. I am doing it at...
