Would like to know what kind of pearls these are?

The more I look at them the more I think FW - this size, shape and quality still makes for a valuable strand, and a beautiful gift.

Would like to know what kind of pearls these are?

Hmm, I think they are nucleated freshwaters.... other opinions? If so, still quite a lovely gift. They are gorgeous! I can post some pics of some strands I have stocked with very similar appearance.

    Pearls vs. Water Bottles

Yes, I thought about this too - similar values perhaps. I have received many many corporate 'gifts' over the years and the only ones I have really kept/treasured have been ones with local cultural value. I think some of my earliest CFWP were received in this way, along with Japanese lacquered...

    New Fashion & Style Forum

I saw these clasps in person at our Jewellers' Association of Australia fair last year - they are very very striking... I loved them, bit out of my price league though either for personal use or to incorporate in my range.

Tahitian Pearl Farming: A day in the life...

Hi Josh, yes, I forgot to say how nice it was to see you online too... hope you are settling well now and not missing the islands too too much. Kangaroos - well, it is probably a bit hard for non Aussies to imagine, but we really should be eating more of it too - it is around, but not...

Tahitian Pearl Farming: A day in the life...

hi Sheryl, nice to see you back, too!! Thanks for the photos - your 'scarfs' are very similar to long necklaces that have worked well for me for a couple of years now. I tend to use kangaroo leather (seems like an aussie thing to do...). Like you, I am amazed at the age range that purchase...

    My Hong Kong shopping

Ha, I bought some of the weird pearls like the dancing couples, too! I don't usually buy things like that but I couldn't resist! I thought they looked like Australian cockatoos...

    My Hong Kong shopping

Hi Silvia, Thank you for the pics of your purchases! You did do a bit more serious shopping after I saw you last...! Your ring is really pretty - haven't ever attempted to make a ring, so I am pretty impressed. Bryan - thank you too for your pictures - the really odd shaped ones I...

    Cost of presentation box

I spend far less than 10% of sales margin for customised packaging. I have my boxes etc. manufactured in fairly large quantities, imported, and stored off-site and I would still suggest that it is closer to 5-6% of margin. For higher end goods, I have customised (but not bulk produced) boxes...

The Hong Kong Show Starts Today

Hi Sheri - yes, always fun for this fair! The September show is bigger and held in two venues with raw goods (ie, pearls, along with all gemstones, findings, silver etc) being exhibited at the AWE - the huge convention centre out near the airport, and finished jewellery being shown in the city...

    The Long-Awaited GIA Pearls course!

Hi all - I managed to fit into the HK lab class held just before the show opened - it was quite a week! The class was interesting - I didn't think I would ever quite 'get' the GIA colour classification scheme, but it does indeed work!! Met some great people, and feel like I now have another...
