Hi all, I just received a new book called "Imperishable Beauty", Art Nouveau Jewelry by Yvonne J. Markowitz and Elyse Zorn Karlin put out by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. There are many examples of pearls in Art Nouveau Jewelry. The book has gorgeous illustrations.

"provenance is a clear trace of ownership back to the desired source" This is true, especially in the antiques business - the more accurate or interesting (or infamous) the history of a piece is, the more valuable it is deemed to be. The piece need not necessarily be of the best quality.

I have interviewed about 40 jewelery stores in my city. 99% of them don't have a clue about the pearls they sell. It's no wonder buyers are confused!
