    How to Wear Pearls

Hi members, I seem to be a bit late still many years ago I saw a gorgeous LP-cover with Shirley Bassey, wearing a dress whose back had several rows of chains or pearls, i don?t remember quite well. It was however stunning and each row of chains or pearls were fastened at the sides of the dress...

    pearls for Inge

Hi Beth, so far I have worn the necklace only a couple of times but I will report later on. Right now everything seems to work just fine, the only thing I have to be careful about is the correct hanging so the pendant is exactly centered and then it sits there just fine.

    pearls for Inge

Hi P-guiders! Yes, Beth has done a lovely work with my necklace. The pearls are Exotics in a yellowy-rose colour and they look very lovely together with the sapphires and the tiny beads in between. I am very pleased to have a necklace that is quite unique in style and material thanks to Beth. :)

Hi Caitlin, also congratulations from this corner of the world, you certainly deserve to have a necklace that not any longer belongs to the group of "lowly beads" but to the very high class pearls. Wear it with pride and it warms me very much to think that all of you toasted us other members...

Question re Oxidized Silver and Pearls

Hi raj, I don?t know about tarnished silver making marks on pearls but it took not a very long time for goldplated spacers to make marks on the pearls where they came into contact with the spacers. They marks were black and could be removed partly from the pearl?s surface.

    I need help with GIMP!

Hi all, I also use the SS snapeeze and even if the movement to close them is the same as with other jump rings, the Snapeez closes more tightly and as Claire says, they have a very nice "finished" look.

    I need help with GIMP!

Denali, when deciding how long the gimp has to be I always take into consideration how big the ring is (if large) cut a bit longer, if a small gold- or sterling ring (connecting the clasp with the rest of the necklace) you can cut it shorter. Be sure to pull the double thread so you get half of...

    The Gambiers

Thanks Josh for the lovely pics and the exciting story to go with them. That was close! Good you did make it back in one piece. And it is really a shame that governments do whatever they think is needed without any consideration for the local people!

    What is this trademark?

Hi Nelly and welcome to the Forum. I don?t know if it could be a Mikimoto but search for earlier posts because I remember that we had the same questions before. However, I doubt that Mikimoto used 10 K gold for the Akoyas but I could be wrong. It will be easier to tell once you post pictures. I...

    HI, newbie here, pics too!

Welcome to our forum and thanks for posting. You wonder if some of the pearls are real Tahitians, in order to see this we would need some more detailed pics, close ups if possible. The black and white are perfectly round, which makes me a bit suspicious, the ones in your hand look definitely...

    like to id these

Hi storms, I too think they might most probably be Akoyas but it is not impossible that they are freshwaters. In the first picture my eyes see a bit off round shapes, it might be my imagination though, however if they are Freshwaters it still would not be strange to have a diamond clasp to go...
